Since they bothered to supply DX/SX jumpers on this board instead of hardwiring it, I'm gonna guess that the CPU is not soldered down and coulda just been swapped out for a DX anyway 🤣

Wow, what a waste of five cents worth of header and jumper caps. 🤣

Fantastic. Love how it's so close to the ad. The only items that look even slightly yellowed are the optical drive and mouse. Otherwise, that setup seems pristine. How do the insides look?

except the dust is looks brand new, i guess the door was never closed after unboxing hens the yellow cdrom 😀

Did the PS/1 keyboard use buckling springs? Quite a score.

ye, but i do like model m more then model m 2 😉

naa, nothing yet...

Today finally after a long wait the PCI video card with ATI RAGE XL chip has arrived.
It has an on-board memory of 8MB, which is enough for Dos and windows 3.X and 9x programs, especially for resolutions below 1024x768, however the card has no drivers supplied, there is neither a floppy nor a CD.
For the drivers I still have to look for them, I hope it is not complicated to find them, however I think a lot depends on the OS, I believe that specific drivers are not needed with winXP (or higher),
I plan to install it on a socket7 PC and i430 chipset, currently I have a couple of VX on the bench and two TX PCs where I could replace the Vga with this one.

One of those new stock ebay jobbies? I picked one up recently. I'm sure it will come in handy at some point - but it didn't find its niche in my current setup. My little journey in four posts:

Socket 7 test (DOS rig with P166. Spoiler: Didn't work): https://forums.overclockers.com.au/threads/yo … 8#post-18903401
SS7 test (Aptiva W98 rig with K6-2, with 3dmark99 test): https://forums.overclockers.com.au/threads/yo … 8#post-18907524
DOS benchmarks on the Aptiva: https://forums.overclockers.com.au/threads/yo … 8#post-18908104

As mentioned I let W98 install the standard VGA driver for it, then manually updated it with the Rage 128 / Pro drivers from here: https://www.philscomputerlab.com/ati-9x-driver-archive.html

Thank you very much for the info and for the links.
I downloaded the driver for W98, from the phils.CL page, for the moment I am working on some 486, but I will try to put the RAGE XL on a TX, I have a couple and I thought of putting it in one with the K6-2 -400 (CXT).
From memory I remember that there is W98 on the disk, so everything should be ok by installing the phils.C.L driver.
Yes I bought it on e @ bay, it cost about 10 $ including shipping, I had other VGA PCI in case they needed it, but I didn't have cards with 8MB of RAM, so besides the low cost also the RAM was decisive to buy it .

Not sure when this boy was actually made, let alone if it's one of the switchable XT/AT keyboards, but hey, who am I to say no to a $7 Mechanical AT Keyboard.

It's a Qtronix S-305, which leads to a lot of people asking what it is. I grabbed an AT-PS/2 adapter while I was at it, so once it's cleaned up it should be ready to use.

It's gonna be '95 or later due to the Win95 keys, and XT/AT switchables were pretty much done by then... and the telltale thing is that they have a switch on them.

I knew it would be newer because of the windows keys, but thanks for letting me know about the XT switch. It's not a big deal for me, honestly. I'm just happy to have something that feels even better than what I'm currently using that can also be used for that eventual 486 system that I wanna build.

Pretty sure there were at least a few keyboards that automatically detected AT/XT and used the mode needed.

I have a few of these - two different model M and a Commodore PC keyboard. They all have an "autosense" XT/AT capability

wow are those sealed?

I've got this Logitech controller from 1996, nothing special but it's 25 years old and still sealed!
Still not sure if I want to open it

Stealth64 and Mach64 are indeed sealed and will most probably stay like that... unless I change my mind 🤣

Bought 2 AT computers without HDD. Inside there were two socket 3 motherboards with 486 120 MHz CPU. One of them has Dallas battery and the other has bq3287AMT. Does anyone know if the bq3287AMT can be modified like the Dallas chip? The seller also threw in o few other cards and a lifetime supply of computer screws (12 Kg).

That's insane! I thought I had a lot - I would estimate maybe 1Kg. But that's no guarantee you will have any you need 😀
