My sealed D-LINK DSB 500 didnt even come with a drivers CD..... no sweat though, i used "XUSBSUPP"for WIN95 OSR2.1+, its similar to NUSB33e thats used for WIN98.

I used the INF file that was embeded in the system after the software install, the 2port PCI USB device is now installed and working, and the transfer speeds are suprisingly faster than 1.1 after auto installing a random usb thumbdrive that gets plugged in.

Now i can transfer files back and forth with ease just like the newer machines that came afterwards, but a word of caution, the PCI USB device must be made for at least WIN95 on up, like the one im currently using, i tried a made for WIN98/2000/XP only PCI USB device, it wouldnt jive(oh stewardess) enough with the system to work.

Pentium3 1400s/ Asus Tusl2-c / Kingston 512mb pc133 cl2 / WD 20gb 7200rpm / GeForce3 Ti-500 64mb / Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 SB0100 / 16x dvdrom / 3.5 Floppy / Enermax 420w / Win98se

Sealed D-LINK DSB 500 USB 1.1 / 2.0 just for my WIN95 system(sig).

Gotta love that iMac in the stock photo.

With a touch screen too! Definitely this product was waaaaay ahead of it's time 😉

Won this on eBay today - the ThinkPad (560Z) potentially doesn't work but I'm more interested in the cool CD ROM drive 😀

Also picked this up on eBay today for very little money - the screen has stopped working so might be fun to fix. (Seller's photos)

Hey I got hold of one of those along with the PCMCIA card (card first, then got the drive later). It's a really nice CD-ROM drive and works well as a CD player too. IF it's the 1969-011 or 009 then it's got an integrated soundcard.
Since it's a 560Z, it should be a 1969-010 or 008, same drive without the integrated sound. This website has a full archive of what IBM used to publish about it: http://ps-2.kev009.com/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/342_40.htm

It's actually a 1969-111 from the seller's picture - it seems more of an unusual part number?

Kindof that's me misremembering, the x11 seems to be a regional thing, so the 0 or 1 there doesn't matter too much.

Mine is an 1969-110 (without sound) beware I'm about to edit my previous post, I mixed them up! The x08 / x10 are the type without sound, the x09 / x11 actually do have the integrated sound. I'm really keen to get one of those to pair with my sound-card-less 486 laptops 😀

You can tell which is which easily from the speaker jacks near to the CD-drive lid's hinge.

I impulse bought an ASUS A7M266 motherboard bundle with a cpu and 256MB of ram included for $30 plus $12.80 shipping. I don't if it was the greatest of the era, BUT it was one I briefly had back when I was younger (2010 roughly 13 yrs old) and it was working system until I took it apart and foolishly attempted to install a P3 I found in ebay and while I think it might've fit (don't remember), it obviously didn't work. I don't know if I'll ever find the case I originally had for it, all i know is it had an AMD badge on the front.

It has arrived! The PCA761AW from this post a.k.a Gravis Ultrasound with No RAM is real and is in my testing computer!

Thanks to the drivers from Vogonsdrivers.org, it's up and running as a mediocre Windows sound card with a built in wavetable:

But I have plans! SOJ memory shaped plans...

Found this IBM ThinkPad R40 at a thrift store today for 20 dollars. It works pretty good after I reinstalled Windows XP from the factory recovery partition, upgraded the RAM to 1GB, and added fresh thermal paste.

Toshiba Satellite T2150CDS 75MHz intel 486DX, CD drive Windows 95

I have a T2150CDT myself. Remove the wake battery (open the hood, remove the main battery, move the plastic anti-static piece, remove the 4-5 screws, and remove the 7.2V NiMH battery and clean the corrosion off before it's too late.

If you need the drivers and utilities, I'll send a link to all of it.

Oh. Before I forget, a floppy drive from a Satellite Pro 400 Series will work with it as well (tested myself since the original broke on me).

Managed to pick up an Abit PB4 ISA, EISA (only one EISA slot unfortunately, but still) and PCI 486 board for a whopping £10. It needed a trace fixing on the underside but other than that it’s in great condition. I should probably look to switch from 128kb cache to 256kb cache, right?

This will likely replace my PC Chips M919 based Am5x86 build to become my main 486-class machine.

Never owned any EISA expansion cards though so need to work out what is and isn’t worth bothering with.

Ah, interesting. So was anything ever really available for PISA?

I have a Pentium board with a PISA slot as the only slot on the board and is thus designed for a riser card with expansion slots. Not sure why a board like yours would need a PISA slot though.

The only reason I can think is for installation into a low form factor “pizza box” style case. A PISA riser with a single PCI and ISA slot would fit into a case not much taller than a 1.5U server.

Huh. Never seen one like that before. Wait a second. I know why the board is designed like that. If you install a case that has a vertically stacked expansion slots, the PISA will be utilized. Just my 2¢
