I found another 386 motherboard AMD 386DX\DXL-33 (I think I might have more then I will ever need but I don't want to just leave it), and a nice Digital Venturis 466 OEM 486 system.
Wow I put OEM and nice in the same sentence but it is a nice slim case although it has a slimmer PSU then the standard AT one so that could be a problem if it ever dies on me.

It looks a lot like this http://hardware-museum.livejournal.com/125786.html except that it has a Socket 3 486DX2 and only ISA slots, most interestingly is that it has 2 ISA slots on the board one of which is connected to the usual riser that you see in oem systems but also another which would theoretically be for a low profile ISA card. No reason such a think couldn't exist just interesting to see an example of where one could be used. I can really see the appeal of such a box for laziness because it already has a Vibra 16C which is probably similar to what I would use and a network card so its more or less complete as everything else is onboard. The CPU doesn't have a fan though which may or may not be a problem at least it has a heatsink unlike the last 486 I found which looked like it had never had a heatsink which is sortof scary since the DX2 does get a quite hot.

Too bad it doesn't have an HDD perhaps its time to try a CF card solution (why are all the cheap ones on ebay 16GB instead of 512MB?????) I'd hate to spoil the almost silent PSU with a loud HDD.

If it's the top card, hold onto those un-soldered ram clips. They'll come in handy in a future video card ram upgrade..

My second overdrive 100 mhz processor (price wasnt very bad, with free shipping.

What iam going to do with these parts? Ill keep them in own stock.. So i can decide, which processor, memory, board i can take for use.

I don't see the point of buying 486 Overdrives. They usually sell for more because of the word "overdrive" on then than the "normal" DX4 chips and an AMD DX4-120 or 5x86-133 can be had for less and make a faster system. The only Overdrives I bother with are POD 83 (if they're cheap enough), Pentium MMX Overdrive or Pentium II Overdrive.

That overdrive works on more 486 board than the AMD chips. The Intel is also faster clock for clock compared the 5x86 P75. I tested this myself.

For example on my Acer it gets detected properly, whereas the AMD shows up as DX2-80.

The DX4 Overdrives have a voltage regulator on board so they will happily run with 5V. The normal DX4's are designed for 3.3V so you need a motherboard that supports it.

Supposedly there are AMD DX4's that are 3.3V/5V tolerant but I haven't been able to confirm this.

The 5x86's are also designed for 3.3V or 3.45V. You can get them with a voltage regulator onboard (eg Kingston Turbochip) so they will run at 5V, but these aren't quite so common.

In my own testing I found the Pentium Overdrive for socket 3 to be somewhat finicky in certain situations, and an Intel DX4-100 would generally beat it for DOS games at stock speeds. The POD83 was only better if you were using software/games optimized for Pentium or that used floating point (eg Quake), in which case why not just get a socket 5/7 Pentium, they seem much more common and cheaper than 486 class hardware.

If you are squeamish, don't prod the beach rubble.

Could you please provide these benchmarks to Phil's thread/document? I'm the only one who have benchmarked my POD83 and that system is currently beating all the DX4 and AMD X5-P75 133mhz benchs at stock speeds (and overclocked).

Yea it's the top one.

Pulled the memory off the card and now the machine posts. But the image is grey-scale. There is a jumper that hasn't been set, might play around with it...

That looks like the photos my grandmother takes.
She usually only gets the back-end of animals and such in the image, the rest is cut off.
