Extremely nice build quality, Intel Core2 Duo T7500 15.4 1920x1200 resolution, 1x2GB RAM, Nvidia Quadro 570M 256MB. I found out the new price were 3000 dollars in 2008. I'll put in an 120GB SSD drive I have laying around and upgrade the memory to 4GB and replace my current laptop with it. That resolution will be so worth it!

Beware of GPU failure. This Quadro could possibly be affected. Google for thinkpad t61p gpu failure.
I think it is possible to take precautions, Dell had a firmware update for their Latitude notebooks which changed the fan control so the GPU was more evenly cooled.

Besides form that, great machine!

Ahh yes, forgot about this too. Another known issue with the Quadro chips in these. Lots of folks have opened up the laptops and either shimmed the GPU with copper pieces, replaced the thermal paste, or both. Some folks went as far as to reflow these soldered chips. I've been lucky (knock on wood) with mine, but not so lucky with my HP Pavilion laptop.

Received a faulty SC-55 today, naturally the battery was in a terrible condition (as expected at this point)

I was planning to harvest it's ports/screen/upper-shell to make a complete unit of a mk2 I repaired but after some reflowing at the ports the unit works perfect again... so I can't find it in my heart to sacrifice this anymore... 🤣

Sadly broken sc-55s are not that common... took me months to find this on eBay and local sources proved useless on it...
Plus I can't ever destroy a good unit to harvest parts for a mk2, it would be blasphemy! 🤣

I got UNREAL 2, a flight sim from sierra that's missing disc one....a titanic game and sniper World War II, oh, also a 400 question pack addition for You Don't Know Jack.

Doom isn't just a game, it's an apocalypse survival simulator.

Thanks...I want to try Slipheed and Codename:Iceman to try out Lennart's sound card comparison for myself...
http://sound.dosforum.de/

Just listening to the recordings in that link brings me to think that the FB-01 will make games sound more like old Japanese NEC/Turbographx and Megadrive games I used to play back in the day...mostly a bit better than Adlib and SB sounds for some games, but the MT-32 sounds are mostly all more pleasing overall, so I don't know how much I will be using the FB-01. I will be on the lookout in the next little while for games that support the FB-01, but as Lennart mentions in his post, What does an Ad Lib sound card sound like? "soundtracks of the handful of games that *do* support it were usually primarily composed for the Roland MT-32 instead".

I do like having it to 'round out' my MIDI modules...I have a feeling I will find some more older games that support it. I will have to just find some time to make it happen.

Codename Iceman...

Has some really nice MT-32 tunes, but the game itself. What a disappointment.

The first part is classic Sierra, but...

Don't want to spoil anything...

I have heard that it's not as great as it could have been, but thanks for not spoiling it 🤣 ...I think I may actually try to make some time to play it through to the end.
