I snatched this beauty off eBay, it's going to be fun diagnosing why they couldn't get it to power on. Also curious what the CPU speed is, 50 in the Prolinea means 50MHz but I dunno if that's also true of the Presario.

Saw a fuzzy ad for a "1985" PC. That was obviously out as I could make out a VGA connector. Intrigued I made an offer and was accepted. This arrived today:

So no 1985, but an absolutely tiny 1991 386SX system. RTC is dead of course, but apart from that in perfect working order. It even has an FPU... Slight disappointment in that I'd hoped for an ISA slot seeing the panel on the panel on the back. First priority though is cleaning it. Most of that brown stuff is tobacco tar 🙁

Anyone have an idea what that connector for the riser is called?

If this is from the same era as the Presario 425 and 433 (looks like it) that is a very likely possibility. I think it was only with the 500 and 900 models shortly after that they introduced meaningless model numbers (510, 520, etc.)

So this was a 15 kg lot with a single sellers photo. I only spotted the 286 and the CHIPS-EGA and we agreed that I can buy them seperately. Afterwards the seller made a new auction for the remaining parts and I spotted the Voodoo and the Cache-Controller. So finally I bought everything and made an excellent deal...

Will ask for a 486-BIOS later 😉

I'm currently letting my packages sit for at least a day before I unpack them and wash my hands thouroughly after handling and then let the unpacked stuff sit for another day at least ^^
but yeah, I also stopped for now, still waiting for a few things though 😒

two nice SBCs Advantech PCA 6003 and 6004, one with S370 and one with VIA C3 onboard

but I'm really happy to have gotten these, looking forward to testing ^^

I guess that implies the existence of a Presario 866, as I used to have a Prolinea 4/50 that I was able to upgrade to 66MHz by simply swapping the CPU and moving a jumper.

Sadly I don't currently have a DX2-66 handy so I'll have to be satisfied with 50MHz until I pick one up.

Looks like a early Unisys SFF clone, might want to compare it with a Unisys CWD5001 and see if it (the connector) is similar. Nice Find !

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately completely different connector - the Unisys CWD5001 has a regular EISA connector at the edge of the board. Other Unisys CWD seem to have different solutions, but none that look like this unfortunately :'(

Great haul! Is the ATI Graphics solution working? I've been wanting to get one of these.

Very interesting early 286 board... not sure I've ever seen one with a coin cell battery before! Is the 286 CPU a ceramic version?

One more attempt out of curiosity with a 1st generation console, bought one of these fairly cheaply (pic taken from internet, as it hasn't arrived yet):

A "Prinztronic Micro 5500 Colour Programmable TV Game".

It's from the same PC-50x family as the Grandstand SD-050 console I purchased recently, but annoyingly has a different style cartridge with 22-pins. The Grandstand has the exact same games & hardware, but in an 18-pin cartridge format instead. From looking around online, the 22-pin cartridges do seem more common.

If this works with modern equipment, I'll probably sell the Grandstand SD-050 as there'd be no point keeping it around.

I had a SC-431E in the late '80s but unfortunately we traded it for a VGA monitor a few years later. I still kept the user manual as shown on the CRT thread.

I found a SC-452C a while ago but it only does CGA as opposed to the 431 which is a real EGA monitor.

The 286 and 486 board are working. Dont know if the ATI is compatible with my EGA monitors, therefore I am not going to test it. But it looks very good...

This is quite common but I have many boards with the socket closure missing and it seems to be impossible to get a spare. But this one looks perfectly.

Indeed very cool monitor..!

I bought four NOS IDE DVD-RW drives (not all shown). Three are Optiarc (apparently a Sony company), and one is a retail-boxed Sony (beige faceplate at top, not a separate drive). I really like how the Optiarcs look like CD-R drives without any fancy logos.

One of the Optiarcs does not eject the tray when I press the eject button, and one works as it should. Haven't tested the third one or the Sony.

I like having these drives to image the HDD on DVD-R media using Ghost 2003. But I've had a few die over the past year, and beige models are not easy to find in new condition. I should be set for a little while now.

Haven't received it yet. Picture is the seller's photo. It should be here in a few days if the pandemic doesn't slow it down. Luckily the auction also has free 30 day returns, so if it catches fire upon plugging it in I won't be out any money, haha.
