The thing is, that it is in unknown condition. I will post some images, once it have arrived by mail in the next week. The only thing I know about it so far, is that it is physically intact. Personally I suspect that it needs a deep clean and a recap.
Nice. Even if it isn't working and you didn't or couldn't repair it, you'd easily be able to recoup the money by selling it on for parts.
If they're selling it like that, then it's probably as you said - not working and needing recapping. But good luck, if it's working it's an absolute steal!
If it comes with the original PSU, make sure you test that first as you are no doubt very well aware how bad Commodore power supplies can be.
Thanks. Well. Yeah..... I am going to put some money into this machine, in order to have it up and running. I can not do any SMD soldering, so it will be
shipped to a person that I have been recommended for recapping. He is on Amibay, and his work seems good and solid.
Else I suspect it needs a new membrane, and the case might need to be swapped with one of them new ones, that they created new molds for making.
My plan is to have it upgraded with as much memory as I can put into it, and then a scandoubler for future proofing it in regards to monitors.
Scandoublers were extremely hard to get a hold on, back in 2006 when I had to let my old 1200 go. It was a nice machine with 030-50 and PCMCIA SCSI.
Today it is quite easy to get parts for any type of vintage computer, compared to back then, as it can be purchased online.
That is perhaps the best thing about the current pandemic. Namely that it have become really easy to buy all sort of things online now.
Like carpets, kitchen machines, and everything else. That is perhaps the best thing that have come out of all this.
Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....
