That 486 board is so strange! No jumpers, and the "Aladdin" marking makes it even more interesting, especially since ALi's M1487/9 is the FinALi chipset, not the Aladdin. Plus that SUPER late chipset date of almost 1997...just wow! I wonder if it supports EDO?

If you benchmark it, please share results! This is a really well-thought-out board. And a weird one.

Board supports EDO memory. Overall the lack of cache shows on the performance - by guess it's just around 486DX2-80. EDO helps a bit as performance increases by around 10%. But this depends on the benchmark/app/game.

Sad that the P5A seems way more likely to die than the P5A-B, which has the CPU socket in the worst possible place. I have at least 3 working P5A-B boards, all of which I either got really cheap or as part of a scrap lot.

In fact, I still have yet to get a dead P5A-B.

That's Startpage. Duck Duck uses as far as I know uses it's own search engine.

At one point they were using google search algos and simply removing all the google tracking, advertising and ranking crap out of it, seems they now use their own, interesting.

I couldn't resist and bought a second Tualatin system, this time a Dell Precision P3 Tualatin Celeron 1.3, I will be throwing the P3-s 1.4 I have in there along with more ram, I have a Dell 20" LCD and Dell Keyboard and Mouse for it so it'll be a complete setup.

Has a Late model i815 board, FX5200 and SB Live in it .. Ill keep the Live but that 5200 is getting retired for a Ti 4600 or a Voodoo4 4500 .. not sure yet which, also going to throw a PCI Sata card in it and upgrade it to a SSD, and possibly add more USB 2.0 ports.

That type of system shows up for sale at a local thrift store all the time for $5. They get lots of Dell and HP. Went today and they had a HP something or other, complete tower with an Athlon X64, couple hard drives and everything else, for $5. Come to think of it maybe I should have picked it up. Oh well.

Wish I live in a place that had thrift stores like that, might make buying retro gear cheaper but here in Australia where I live the thrift stores mostly stock old clothing and other household junk very rarely would I find any PC related stuff there.

It's getting more like that here, used to be quite common, now it's tailing off and tailing off, until it's weeks between seeing anything worth a second glance.

I have opposite observations. Every single P5A-B I had was dead, which can't be told about P5A 😮
I belive that there is no rule to that - both boards are from the same era, probably made out of the same part batches and on the same production line...
Also P5A-B CPU socket placement is not that bad as it doesn't collide with any of the slots...

Looking at buying a AWE32 .. found a CT3900 on ebay for 350 USD .. seems kind of expensive till I looked for the other WT versions and the CT2760 is 400USD.

Not sure if its worth it, could go for a AWE64 gold too but no wavetable header.

You can always try other sources...

I just bought an almost complete boxed AWE32 CT2760 for over USD $400 including tax. It was only missing a getting started guide and user manual. Add in the those missing manuals I picked up separately (I also had to buy another set of installation disks as part of the sale), 16MBx2 SIMMs, and I’m in over $500. It is worth every penny.

Bought and received a 32KB Sideways RAM upgrade for my BBC Micro. It's a solderless kit and easily reversible - my favourite kind of modifications.

They don't cost a lot of money and are pretty easy to fit, so I thought why not. A couple of games will benefit from it.

I literally got my AWE64 Value for free, and that was in 2019.

it does come with 32mb of ram on it, but still its a good wad of cash.

Added some nice pieces of hardware to my collection the other day:

A new in box Gigabyte GA-BX2000+ rev 1.2 mainboard, unfortunately the box is pretty beaten up and the manual and the I/O shield is missing 🙁, but the board is brand new! 😀
Of course the battery was dead and probably because of that the board was recovering the BIOS every 2nd or 3rd reboot, even after I changed the battery.
Downloaded the latest BIOS from Gigabyte website and flashed it in Windows! Didn't even know that you could flash the BIOS from within Win98 back in 1999! On the CD-ROM witch came with the mainboard I found a software called Gigabyte Utility Manager and it has an option to flash the BIOS from Windows! I just had to try it, and it worked! 😁
It's a really nice board!

Also got this joystick, it's a QuickShot QS-113P. It's not new but it has the box, game port ISA card, paperwork and even the receipt! It was bought exactly 30 years ago, on the 15th of January 1992 from a Bilka store in the town of Hundige, Danmark! 199 Danish krone. Hey, that's nice to know 😀

The seller also sent me for free two P2 CPUs @333 and @400 MHz and a keyboard...

Oof... had me realise I was neglecting my unicorn herding duties, and scurried off to wrap my CT3930 in antistatic, cotton wool, tissue paper, and bury it in a lead box in case of Carrington Event high EMP solar storm.... j/k but I relocated it to a safer shelf.

Gonna ditch the idea for a AWE32, gonna get a AWE64 Gold with 28mb ram upgrade board and call it a day, it works out 200 USD cheaper and for what I want to use it for itll work out better.
