Main reason I bought a scrap lot:

Some more cards:

And an interesting ISA VGA card:
HM86305_VGA.jpg

You bought a lot with a CT1350B and the AWE64 PCI was the reason? May I have the 1350B?

I was wondering the same. The only thing the AWE64 has going for it, is the SB-Link.

Well I bought a VIC 20 off eBay for $97 shipped. Comes with a C64 DIN PSU, RF adapter, a beat to shit OG box, and a single game. Now i have a PSU I can use when I get a C64 eventually so thats nice.

This arrived today one New Unused Adaptec 39320A RoHS SCSI Ultra 320 Card, I have only had the time to open and check everything is there, once I get a chance Ill take a shot of the card in the buff, I do know its a HBA card so no raid but I dont know a lot about SCSI raid setups so thats likely for the best 🤣.

I still have to get the 80pin to 60 pin adaptors for the drives and hopefully they will arrive early next week, then I have to figure out how to set the ID for the drives, shouldn't be too hard hopefully.

no one would want a scsi raid setup anyways. nice card.

Not even with 15k Ultra 320 drives ?

I actually dont like raid setups myself, the limited experience I have with them hasn't been great, I am looking at building a Raptor raid using a LSI card at some point but its sata based so shouldn't be hard to get working.

RAID setups are nice depending on what you are using it for.

That being said, for retro/vintage machines I'll take a SSD over any spinning rust drive any day

Insanely fast, silent, use less power and are going to be way more reliable than old spinners.

I like SCSI cards mostly for all the old vintage tape and MO drives I have lying around.

I stick with IBM-DHEA drives on my retro PCs. if I don't want any drive noise I can directly use dosbox

Does the 39320 works in a standard 32-bit PCI slot? Or does it require a PCI-X slot to function?

usually PCI-X cards work in legacy PCI slots in their compatibility mode (i.e. losing all their PCI-X benefit)

Yup, this one works fine under PCI but needs PCI X for full bandwidth when using both channels, I’m only using one channel so it should be ok.

I'm using a batch of 20GB laptop drives. They are silent and as quiet as mechanical harddrives can get 😜
And also quite fast, they are basically one of the last 20GB laptop drives made.

I got offered one of Intel P80862-8 and Nec V30-8 each for a total of 10 bucks.. A good idea to grab them? I have no boards to use them in but one may come across sometime I guess?

I visited a second hand shop last week and they had a box of USB keyboards, branded HP.
Many had their back supports (dunno what they are called exactly) missing but with a price tag of a mere €0,50 I could not let this opportunity pass and especially since I happened to been using a keyboard which space key had started malfunctioning about a week prior. So I selected 6 of the nicer looking ones and am typing on one of them right now.
May be the best €3 I spend this year 😜

Oh ok thank you schlang and Trash Panda for the clarification. I have a couple of 29160 cards which are known to work in a 32-bit PCI slot but I wasn't sure it was the case for the 39320, as the description on the adaptec website doesn't explicitly say "32-bit compatible".

Im trying to source a single socket 370 board with PCI X ..either they dont exist or ill have to switch to ATX dual socket boards that have the slot ..wouldnt mind seeing what it can do on the right board and as a bonus I can source a PCI X Matrox Parhelia PCI 256MB for what is a reasonable price for a rare and odd GPU. The SuperMicro P3TDLE looks like it might fit the bill, ISA, PCI, PCI X and Dual Tualatin support and Importantly its ATX so wont have any issues fitting into the cases I have.

Might be worth running such a system and throwing Voodoo 2 SLI into the mix, that Parhelia should be fairly decent performance wise.

The other board option is a Intel SAI2 which are not horribly expensive on eBay.

It should work .. doesnt mean it will work perfectly ...like most things that have a fall back im expecting there to be .. teething issues, worst comes to worst Ill find a board with PCI X and move it to that and look for a PCI SCSI 320 card.

The manual it comes with does state that it will work in 32bit PCI slots or 64 bit PCI X (5v or 3.3v support both), it does say the PCI slot must support Bus Mastering and meet Rev 2.1 of the PCI standard, pretty sure a P3 motherboard will meet the requirements easy enough.

Unless they are particularly interesting, used keyboards are a hard sell. They are often super gross, take hours to clean, and most are rubber domes in various states of decay.

My guess is these all came from a single company. These were definitely used, but in various states of (ab)use. Some were clearly typed on a lot while some looked almost new.
The one I'm using right now looked so clean I barely even bothered to clean it before testing it. I haven't even been able to find any dirt or dust beneath the keys at all on this particular keyboard.
I took my time to cherry pick all the neat ones, for 50 cents each this one I didn't want to pass up 😜
Especially since I actually needed one. And one more special bonus is that these keyboards also have a longer cable, which was a huge nuisance with the old keyboard.

The only particularly interesting about these keyboards are that they were all identical model numbers (about 20 keyboards, all the exact same model number) and many even still have the sticker on them with IMPORTANT NOTICE. And I needed one like right now xD 😜

All the icky ones I left there, I only took the ones that looked almost new.
The model number is SK-2885 btw.

So I'm set for the time being 😁
