Just received a box full of "computer equipment". It was advertised at a local ad app like craigslist. Spend 50€ plus shipping, but I think it was wort it.

The box full of goodies and proper padding :

Does the Octek Mirage 64 work as a regular sound card or is it only for MPG decoding?

Another DFI K6BV3+/66 with a K6-2-500 and 294mb of memory popped up on evilbay so I did the right thing and grabbed it, itll go as a spare to the one I got a few months back. This one as a bonus comes with all the IO cables and PS2 adaptor.

Have yet to see the ATX version, I know it exists as others have bought them off evilbay, what's nice is that I got this one for the same price as my other one.

Got given a Olympus MO drive today along with 8 disks, 4x 640mb, 2x230mb and 2x128mb disks. No idea if all the disks work yet but since the drive is USB based it does make it far more useful for moving files from my main PC to my retro PCs, never had a MO drive before so it should be fun to find out if its better than CD's or USB 1 flash drives.

Edit - Not Sony you dud.

Crappy seller pic, but I spotted some leaking caps, so it will need some work.

Weak spot for Slot A stuff ... EPoX EP-7KXA rev 0.4 with an Athlon 600 and some memory.

Nice !! I have only one Slot A board, they are fun to play with 😀

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Yep, PD2JK has it easy though, I had replace most 0f the PCI slots in my Asus Slot A board!

Well considering the age caps are always possible but PCI slots ? Must have had some bad corrosion or damage. My K7M has worked flawless w/o any work so far but sometime soon will have to do the caps.
Always wanted to get a faster CPU but like PD2JK is has the 600Mhz 512k cache version and works OK. Somewhere lost in my stacks of crap is a 750Mhz Tbird but have not seen it in years...
The only quirk with my AMD-K7600MTR51B-C is that I tried the "Gold Finger" mod decades ago and got it run stable at 750 but removed it so part of the plastic casing is cut open 🤣

I bought a pair of 3dfx Voodoo 2 12mb for about $140. They have artifacts and need repair, but I figure that should be pretty easy. I think it was a good deal, considering current prices and the fact that it included the cables.

The only unfortunate thing in that they are not a perfectly matched pair.

I went and did it . .I bought a D850BG with a 1.4 Willamette and 512mb of Rdimm memory ...anyone willing to suggest a equally terrible GPU for this build 🤣, wasn't intending to buy it but the seller wanted it gone so took my offer for it and itll be a rather unique and only early P4 to have in my collection.

Actually interested in how it will stack up against a 1.4s Tually and DDR memory, pretty sure itll be a pretty even fight.

I think it begs for a 64bit FX5200 ;D

I think a Savage 2000 would be a delightfully terrible pairing. Give it a Voodoo 1 or 2 as a sibling to compensate.

An Ensoniq AudioPCI will round things out nicely. You're too cheap for a Sound Blaster Live!

Or an ALS4000 based white noise card. 😜

I had a Vanta for a while back in the day and loved it. I don't see what all the hate is about when it comes to the M64. It's not particularly fast, but the feature set is good. It's not like it's an S3 Virge!

There's only one right answer: Riva TNT2 M64.

It's not bad, only old. Decent budget card for the time. It's for modern games and high resolution when it gets bandwidth limited.

No idea why the PCI slots were borked, but you can never know the history of some of these boards and the awful things people do to their computer hardware.

I vote Geforce 4 MX-SE version.

The GeForce 4 MX series is actually quite good for anything that uses DirectX 7. What's criminal is the OEMs that butchered these budget cards with a 64-bit memory bus.

If only your board would have worked with AGP2x cards, I would have suggested either SiS6326 or Intel740.
But I could suggest you take a look at a Geforce4 MX 420 so that you can ask yourself what the heck you have been smoking 😋
