It been quite dry out there ever since kung-flu restrictions fully lifted over a year ago. Still managed to finds some interesting stuff lately:

-32GB SSD, for which I already 3D-printed a bracket for. 10EUR Seems a little too much, considering brand new 120GB drives go for ~13Eur now, but there aren't many options for low capacity anymore and they go for ~30-40EUR.
-A bunch of 512MB CF cards. 10 for 3EUR. More DOS installations than i will ever need.
-DDR400 memory sticks with some fancy heatsinks. Forgot the price, but it was pocket-change.
-HP Pavilion T3000. Local listing for 20. The "packaging" was a garbage bag, tape and the shipping label. Still somehow arrived with no dents or broken parts. AM2+/AM3 Motherboard from Gigabyte, Athlon64 x2 3800, DDR2 memory, some basic video adapter card. I have a couple of projects I want to use it with and would likely swap out the guts completely, but I have a hard time deciding which. What era does it look like it represents more? Windows XP or Vista? It was around for both.

I'd hazard a guess and say that it probably shipped with XP. From it's specs it would run Vista but I'd personally stick with XP.

It did. Sticker on the back says Xp 2005 media center edition. I'm purely basing my choice on the looks, though, which is why I'm having a hard time deciding. I'm kind of leaning to just stick the media center edition onto it right now.

My builds!
The FireStarter 2.0 - The wooden K5
The Underdog - The budget K6
The Voodoo powerhouse - The power-hungry K7
The troll PC - The Socket 423 Pentium 4

Media center 2005 is a good gaming environment. My wife's gaming PC had media center 2005 on it back in those days and it was just fine for gaming

Just received an CT3670 AWE32 from one local auction.
It came with 2x4MB SIMM memory sticks and it's been modified to have 2xRCA for line-in and 2xRCA for line out. Looks nice, to be honest...

Was lucky to get it for about 16€ + 3€ shipping.

Received today a Korg X5D/R to add to my MIDI stack.
I have always liked Roland but the sound of the Korg expanders impressed me on youtube and this one does not seem to disappoint.

Today I got 4 sticks of GeIL Value DDR400 (PC3200) 512MB RAM (total 2 GB) with blue heatsinks. 2 sticks have CL2.5-8-4-4 timings and the other 2 have CL2.5-6-3-3 timings. 2 512MB RAM sticks belong to a Dual Channel Kit, and the other 2 sticks are independently.
Any opinions?

I am aware of the brand, but I'm sorry... For native German and Dutch speakers it's just pretty much impossible not to crack up whenever it's mentioned. 🤭

In German it means something like 'super' or 'great' or am I mistaken.

Heh well the English speakers get their fun over things like the "We're looking for you" signs, a freer translation meaning "We're hiring" but that actually say
"Wir such dich"

Same thing with online marketplaces saying "rare hardware" as rare in Dutch means weird. So to Dutch speakers it literally sais weird /odd hardware (which it sometimes also is).

Yes, hot, but really more towards ehh...almost being physically ready to go, if you know what I mean 😉 😉 😉 😜
Hot is more someone who looks exceptionally sexy, but with a distinct lack of horny-ism compared to being geil, or whatever it is called in English xD

In German it is kinda similar to the English "Awesome!". As in you see someone do something great, you could say it's awesome. "Dass ist Geil" in German

That's because the Germans have come (ha!) to use it as slang for "awesome" and "cool", but in the German language, the literal meaning of the word "geil" is still "horny", just like in Dutch. 😁

This beautiful motherboard has come into my hands that for me has everything.
at and atx format, 100mhz bus, pci, agp, isa, dimm.at and atx connector.

I have the same motherboard and I couldn't find the pinout of ps/2 header.

With the multimeter I find out at least the 5v and ground lines but I think I've damaged something while testing because with the only combination that "something" happens keyboard stops working and mouse still no response. With the cables in any other combination, nothing happens at all.

I've been looking for a local InWin A500 for years now and finally someone messaged me saying they have one.

However, I don't believe this is an InWin case, but rather a clone of it?

InWin Clone.jpg

I'll buy it regardless, but.. Confirmation would be nice..

It looks like one but it's better build. I have one too: https://drive.google.com/file/d/136GwxK_9mKNj … ?usp=share_link

I sent you a PM too...

Here is a photo of the entire 500 series. Yours looks to be a clone. I'd still grab it of course. Nice looking clone.

I would rather say A500 is a clone of this case. InWin cases are cheaply built compared to this one - it even has powdercoated black chassis and better quality materials in general...

The A500 is a very solid case and certainly not cheaply built, but hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion. To each their own.

I seem to have acquired a prototype or engineering sample of a device. I will post more about it later.

In such a hypothetical situation, because obviously we're just talking in theory here, it would be wise to setup a protonmail and proton vpn account to use to set up an account at archive dot org and similar places to upload it all.

Though such abundance of caution might not be necessary if the IP trail seems to contain multiple defunct companies and nobody knows or cares about it. But should it be known buttholes like Sony or Nintendo that ended up owning it, sleep with a lawyer under your pillow.
