The demo ends with me looking down the tunnel path after
having killed all the baddies. At that point the console will
automatically come down. Look for these stats (they should
be the last lines in the console) :

There are heaps of baddies left in this level. It just seems totally off, what do you think?

Well, I've tried it on a few PCs and it does exactly that. However, some times I've noticed that something goes wrong and your character gets killed. On such occasions, you'll have to redo the benchmark.
It may be possible that some patch messed up with the benchmark, but it still manages to be very useful.

Yes I had that as well. I got the same version as per read-me, so it is quite odd. Wondering if I can't just make my own recording with lots of action?

Is it for testing your brand spanking new v3 3500?

I advise the racing game breakneck (nice2 is another name for this game). works perfect with every voodoo card and has good graphics for it`s time and good resolutions and options.
You can simply use the build-in benchmark!
It doesn`t work standard with a geforce card, after patching it, it works fine (tested with v1 to v5 and geforce 2mx and geforce 2Ti)

asus tx97-e, 233mmx, voodoo1, s3 virge ,sb16
asus p5a, k6-3+ @ 550mhz, voodoo2 12mb sli, gf2 gts, awe32
asus p3b-f, p3-700, voodoo3 3500TV agp, awe64
asus tusl2-c, p3-S 1,4ghz, voodoo5 5500, live!
asus a7n8x DL, barton cpu, 6800ultra, Voodoo3 pci, audigy1

Yup playing with the V3 3500 as I'm typing this 🤣

Thanks for the tip! Found the game on eBay and grabbed it 😀

I am trying to get more game benchmarks together. Might as well do it properly.

Nice!

I tested with the Tualatin 1400 on an Asus Tusl2-c

In that benchmark my 3500 agp held it`s own against the v5 5500 agp (even beating v5 pci!) at 640x480. At 800x600 the v5 started waving goodbye and at 1024x768 well....it started it`s jet engine and was never seen again.. 😀

Also tested the v5 agp with only one chip enabled (making it a 4500) and the scores were about equal with the 3500. It is a fast card.

asus p5a, k6-3+ @ 550mhz, voodoo2 12mb sli, gf2 gts, awe32

Don't worry about Shogo, like F2bnp said it happens from time to time.

Could you please tell me how to benchmark these? Thank you!

Usual Quake 2 way, you should really abuse internet searches more.

Believe me, I have searched. But for some reason I never find these sited 🙁

I find a TON of benchmarks but they never explain how they do it. Very annoying and tedious.

Thanks will check it out!

A bit OT but also relevant to benchmarking old glide games.

GOG.com games that come with nGlide. How to remove nGlide? Just delete the DLL files inside the game directory? I could get Hitman 47 going this way, but it had glitches at resolutions higher than 1024 x 768.

Or put another way. How does nGlide work? Through the DLL files inside the game folder? It translates them to DirectX commands?

Send the Glide2x.dll/Glide3x.dll files directly to hell and native Glide should be functional. Sometimes you might even have to send ddraw.dll to hell in case it's wrapped for Vista or so

DISCLAIMER: I have 0 GoG games. This is a theory.

Cool I was on the right track 😀

PS: How do you remember all these file names? I have a very bad memory and need to always look up stuff like that 😊

Cool 😀

Ok got Breakneck and Drakan going. Nice benchmarks.

The GOG.com version of 2150 wouldn't load. Looking at the script I could see a lot of registry entries and INI files. Haven't found an easy way to process these under Windows 98SE.

It is well known glide2x.dll glitch. The trouble is - Voodoo2 SLI maximum resolution is 1024x768. Voodoo3/4/5 still have the glide 2.x API support, but 3dfx broke something when they have added 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 in glide2x.dll.
Examples of affected games are: C.I.A. Operative: Solo Missions, Hexen II, Hitman, Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, Quake (GLQuake). Half-life, Gunman Chronicles and other HL mods don't have 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 as selectable resolutions, but must be broken too.

Asus P4P800 SE/Pentium4 3.2E/2 Gb DDR400B,
Radeon HD3850 Agp (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).
Voodoo2 12 MB SLI, Win2k drivers 1.02.00 (XpProSp3).

I had the same problem when searching. For some reason a lot of old benchmarks only contains quake, unreal and winbench, and when you look for some newer ones they never explain (anywere) how they did it....

Fraps has been around a long time, i guess most benchmarks are done with fraps. Minimum fps are also not mentioned and i guess we can all agree today that those are the most important?

Would be great to see now that nvidia back in the days had a lot lower min. fps but that they just won the battle because nobody measured it 🤣
