Ok the results are in....

First, I tested the AMD 286/16Mhz cpu OSC combo and unless one of these two is defective the Teradrive wouldn't boot at all in PC mode (Megadrive side still worked perfectly). Perhaps one of the other xtals on the board has to be replaced as well, or there is a RAm timming issue, or the whole VGA bottleneck problem as sugessted 😕 ??? The Teradrive attempts to boot but it won't go all the way.

Next, I went with the Intel 286/12Mhz and the Teradrive loves it. Everything works good and DOS games play much more smoother so does Win3.1, almost feels like this CPU is meant to be for this particular board.

Any suggestions or ideas to make the 286/16Mhz work? Thanks!

Yes it does, believe it or not the additional speed make things much, much better.

now that you have the socket... drop in a 486: http://www.cpushack.com/2014/08/30/improve-te … 86-286-upgrade/

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.
