Looking through the web, even trying to use wayback machine on archive I found this it's 6 days later of 0412 latest non beta bios, and states:
Rev. B Solve cannot enter OS if connected two HDD that capacity over 8.4GB to Secondary IDE channel.

I also found this reference which looks to be the latest bios after 0412, this is 0926 ( 5 months later)

I know this is an old post but i'm struggling with this board and any help will do!

Can't find this BK6XB0418.ZIP file... Even tried provided links with Archive.org, no luck.
If someone has it, that would be great to provide it and upload it to Vogons drivers

Hey, I don't know how you've managed to get it from there, but thanks. I'll give a try with this Bios as I'm not sure this will fit to the K6XV3+/66

2. When BIOS set COM2 to disable, in WIN-98 CAN detect COM2.

Revision
date 1999-12-31
1. Support AMD K6-2+ CPU ID.
2. Support AMD K6-2 533 Mhz CPU ID.
3. Fixed Linux 6.0 shutdown problem.
4. Solve Chinese WIN-98SE suspend problem (can not wake up in suspend mode).
5. Solve 2M cache unstable problem.

Revision
date 1999-10-06

2. Added AMD K6-2+ CPU ID.

If you're interested, over a decade ago I made a Mod-BIOS based on the latest official BIOS :

Features:
---------

*up to 10% performance increase (without oc)
*FSB adjustable up to 133 MHz (might not work, 112 works fine)
*all options activated in setup
*CPU support fixed

Known Bugs:
-----------

*UDMA doesn't work with UDMA100/133 HDDs
*FSB/PCI 124/41 is 97/32

No, it's an earlier BIOS! This one is from 2000 (2000/09/26), the other one is from 2001 (2001/04/18)!

Hey Soggi, thank you for the confirmation ! You're talking about a custom Bios, could you share it ? I went to your website ( now in my favorites 😀 ) but I don't see this mainboard.

Thanks !

Even more interested to try your modded bios... as I'm having issues with UDMA drive.
With the original Bios I had from 12/31/1999 it was showing UDMA 99
I flashed the last one from 2001/04/18 ...
It's showing UDMA 0 during post and speed are soooooo slow. ( 900 kbps under speedsys )

The K6BV3+/66 (AT) and K6XV3+/66 (ATX) haven't made it to may page yet, although I own both. xD

I'll prepare a .7z and send you a PM with the DL link. I don't want to make it public here for now, because it is only tested by myself.

Please note:
Despite I flashed my Mod-BIOS successfully on my own K6BV3+/66 back in the day (2009), I can't guarantee it will work on your board. You accept that you'll flash this BIOS on your own risk and confirm you're able to restore the original BIOS via hotflash or some sort of ROM flasher, if this one bricks your board (it won't destroy it)!

Unfortunately, this is a known bug (as said above):

*UDMA doesn't work with UDMA100/133 HDDs

You have to take a HDD with UDMA66 support at maximum.

Yep I've seen this known bug, but I thought it was mainly for your version 😀
I flash using a programmer so no problem to reflash another version. I even have some spare Bios chips 😊

I will probably have to install a pci/sata card in this computer anyway as I only have sata drives using ide to sata adapter and they are all ata100/133 🙁

I'm wondering if there is a way to limit a drive to ata33 or 66.

No, no...it's also a problem of the original BIOS, the Mod-BIOS didn't change anything to this. I remember that I couldn't get UDMA to work with HDDs supporting UDMA above UDMA66 (I tested some ATA-6/-7 HDDs), the only solution was to use a ATA-5/UDMA66 max. HDD.

I didn't ever hear about a way to limit a HDD to a specific ATA version (ATA-5 in this case).

OK...now building the .7z ... 😉

Edit:
PM has been sent! 😀

Yes. There are programs to limit max UDMA mode from HDD manufacturers. I personally used those from WD and Maxtor.
I may find it on my harddisk, or somwhere in bookmarks this evening. Will let you know 😀

Ok. I found tool for Western Digital drives.

Here are links for tools from other manufacturers, but unfortunately with broken links.

Quick update, the Bios you sent me Soggi is working well on the mobo.

From the original Bios (1231) 1999 to the original from 0418 ( 2001 ) the improvement in data transfert is noticeable, but no difference between 0418 original and 0418 customized by Soggi ( in term of data transfer perf only )

I tried the UDMA tools, and all others from the page ( I went to archive.org )
None of them are working but, one from Seagate displayed this :

So if the tool is right, the mobo is actually working on DMA33 speed (instead of DMA66). Make sense with previous results from Windows Benchmark.
Don't know why the Bios shows DMA 0, but at least it's working better than previously when it was showing DMA 99 😀

It works, that’s good! 😀

At least you have some UDMA mode, I just had some PIO mode. I assume you‘re using a 80-conductor cable which is needed for UDMA66 ?

My BIOS is optimized in terms of CPU, FSB and RAM (more tweak/oc options etc.), so it was expectable there‘s no HDD performance increase.

soggi

Yep using an udma cable seems to help even if for dma33 it's not necessary.
I'm wondering, what are the tools you used to create this modded bios ?

I found Bios Patcher from rom.by but I'm sure you also used another one 😊

As said before, despite I used a 80-conductor cable I had no success with UDMA. Can‘t remember what happened with a 40-conductor cable.

I used BIOS Patcher 4.23 and Modbin 4.50.88 back then.

I am also interested in modified bios. I want to try cpu, ram performance tweaks 😁.
Can u please PM me? Thank you

EDIT:
My motherboard is DFI K6XV3+/66 Rev. B2
I actually have a problems newer bios versions:

Revision
date 2000-04-12
It seems that this version of bios works perfect. Also i see, that it recognizes newer disks as UDMA 99 (but speed is probably 66 - i have to test it yet).
Also "Quick power on self test" works correctly - When it is enabled, it does not count RAM space when posting. Bios recognizes disks up to 137GB correctly.

Then i was reading here on forums that newer versions are better and so on... so i flashed this version:
RevisionB
date 2000-09-26
Bugs i haven't seen with previous version of BIOS:
- Quick power on self test doesn't work. When POST-ing, it counts RAM space all the time. If is enabled, it counts it one time. But when it is disabled in bios, it counts it 3 TIMES over and over 😳
- Newer disks are now recognized as UDMA 0 😒
- And the worst thing: When i came to windows 98SE logon, before start menu and icons loaded - the computer shuts off! I was dissapointed.

Also i tried "beta" version:
RevisionB
date 2001-04-18
- The same problems as with 2000-09-26

After that i went back to DOS and reflashed back the BIOS with my old version 2000-04-12. And everything was back to normal.

Can someone explain me that stuff? Why newer versions of BIOS, if the 2000-04-12 works well? Did I do anything wrong maybe? 🙁

I gave up with all this DMA issues. I added a PCI IDE Controller : A Fasttrack 100 from Promise.
I'm still using the lastest Bios. Like you I have the Memory test bug but it's fine for me to see the memory count 😀 It's not as slow as it used to be on old systems.
