Even with a soundcard with dedicated line-out and speaker-out jacks you can run into odd problems. My CT2760 AWE32's line-out produces extremely low audio output when connected to my receiver or modern sound card line-in jack, so I have to use the speaker out jack to record from the card. Don't know if its an impedance mis-match or a faulty output circuit.

I bought one of the 5.25" bay speakers that PCBONEZ suggested, just to see how it sounds. I'm not looking for top tier quality here, mostly something slightly better than the battery powered junk I have now that I don't have to remember to shut off. 😜

It's interesting how apparently common unpowered speakers were. I always thought the SBS10 unpowered speakers I had were kind of an anomaly.
