Hello guys....

I'm just setting up my game/work space, there for I have 2 monitors, one 16x9 and one 3x4, and a total of 7 Computers connected to those two using 2 KVM switches (don't like emulating, want the real stuff). So far so good.

I've connected 3 Computers to the 16x9 monitor, one high-end game PC... well 7 years old but still capable of playing BF4, one whit a specialised Video Capture card, and a Low Powered Mobil C2D machine (only uses 80/90 Watts, the other game PC consumes about 400). And 4 machines to the 3x4 monitor, a Pentium 1; 3s; PowerMac G3 Beige and a MacMini, al of those a quite power economical.

Now there are some games that are to new for the Pentium 3s and to old for running widescreen. So I have to use the Low Powered Mobile C2D system. But my 16x9 screen is not displaying the games whit the right ratio. You know, you got an 800x600 game and every body looks Fat...

I'll tried to also connect the 3x4 monitor on the second DVI port of that machine, but even if the monitor is powerless, the computer activated both ports (oh I should mention that I have a kind of switch there to power-off the hardware I don't need).

Is there a software for, or display the game in aspect ration, (means that the output to the monitor is always the native resolution and the game is zoomed in but not mis-formed.) or forcing the use one display that is powered on, maybe whit a shortcut key.

Also thought about a kross-linked-KVM, so the output from the PC is connected to the output of the KVM and the both inputs are connected to the monitors (one directly and the other one on the KVM together whit the other two. But I don't know if it is working whit DVI.

Yes, i read that also. But it is connected via DVI, but still not there.

Also read here : http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=64588 that the feature can be enabled by unchecking @treat as HDTV option, but i'm also unable to find that. Ok, they are talking about version 160.xx not the 337. Or should i try to get an older version of the driver.

Man i hate this driver searching and testing....

I have a display connected via VGA and I still have the scaling options on Nvidia control panel. I have a GTX 750 Ti graphichcard though, but I would be willing to bet that the driver you have does hae the scaling option too. I will attach a screenshot of where to find the option, sadly the screen is in Finnish, since I cannot seem to change the language, but you should still find it. I think the menu in english is "Desktop size and position", that Philips 190CW monitor you see on the screenshot is the one plugged in via VGA

Thanks for the picture. I just put the text into Google translate an d it should be this option, but mine is different. See picture. Strange thing is when i change the resolution in windows itself or whit the Nvidia tool i get black borders on both sides. But than when i start a game it's gone.

Edit: i updated to the latest driver and it is still the same, only nTune is not working anymore, but i did not suppose to OC.

I'm kind of confused as to just what you're doing. Are you using a DVI KVM, then? Do things change if you plug in the monitor without the KVM? Maybe it's even worth trying a different DVI cable.

Also, do you have drivers for the monitor?

Hmm, found a tip on other forums, that if you lower the desktop resolution of your computer to something lower than the standard resolution is, it might show the scaling options after that. Also, I think your monitor is being detected as a TV for some reason, it might be the reason why the option to scale isn't there.

EDIT: Maybe on to something here http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2116350&page=2 has a tip on how to get it working

Registered here to post because I figured out a solution. Had this same problem - my monitor was running on a HD 1080p TV resolution instead of a PC resolution according to Nvidia.

Try this in the Nvidia control panel:

1. Go to Display > Change Resolution
2. Click on Customize
3. Create a new resolution matching your native resolution (1920x1080 for mine)
4. Test it, if it's successful, keep the change. Nvidia should now recognize your display as a PC monitor, rather than a TV.

I was then able to change my scaling options for it, which resulted in no stretching for 4:3 resolution games. Hope this helps.

Nvidia's XP drivers are junk. They continue to update them, and use the same version numbers as the NT6 drivers, but they're not the same. Basic things are missing or don't work properly.

I think you may be better off with AMD hardware and their no-longer-updated XP drivers.

I also ran into this problem. Don't use the latest drivers!

The scaling option won't show up. Google some reviews of the graphics card, check what driver version they used, then add a year or two and you should be sweet 😀

Ok, so i'm going to try older drivers.

Also have some other cards I could use, Like a X1500 or X1950 (but that one needs to much power, there is no extra connector for this one in the computer). Or even worse HD4870, but than my eco PC is gone whit the wind (180 Watt full load.... only the GPU).

Now I downloaded the last Omega based on 169.21 and oldest possible driver from the Nvidia site, which is 320.18 from 2013, There are no older versions there.

All the older ones are on Guru3D, but it is hard to pick one, there are so much:

original:
www.guru3d.com/files-categories/videoca ... -bit).html

Modified:
www.guru3d.com/files-categories/videoca ... fied).html

Now I Downloaded some WHQL drivers, the 169.21 ; 175.16 ; 180.48 and 185.85. Gonna start whit the oldest one.
