I have a stack of Lite-on CD/DVD drives, 16P9SV is the model #. I need to find replacement rubber bands for the door/tray mechanism.

Tried several from ebay, but it's a crapshoot. Most of the times they list XBOX drives and sell them by the 1000's for pennies on the dollar. Wrong size. Anything else is expensive and listed with part numbers that don't match, and no measurements. And when they do provide measurements, it's done incorrectly.

How do I get out of this miasma and get the right-sized belt? Where to buy from?

---

These drives, like 99% of the others on the market use the thin belts that stretch with age. On the other hand, my Creative Labs 2x CD-ROM's tray belt is 8x-10x thicker and is still flexible after 25 years. So much for racing to the bottom and cost-cutting!

I have the LH-18A1P model that needs a new belt and it requires punching or prying the tray open on the drive just to insert a CD. The one in my Xbox Original v1.6b needs a new belt as well as that sometimes doesn't open very well.

It's hard to find a belt as I can never find one at all. Plus, they can be generally the wrong size.

i get them on a fisical store that sells electronics.
the belts are very common, and even found on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/38mm-Rubber-Drive- … D-/391691718412

there are a ton of different diameters, you just take out the one you got on the drive, {it will be really messed up and will not have a circle shape}
try to rectify it with some tame to measure the diameter and buy it online. maybe ebay or mouser must have them since they are common to repair optical drives for audio, and each brand or model has a different diameter belt

It's impossible to find the correct size. Yes. The kits won't always have the correct size.

And what is the correct way to measure? Circumfrence? Inside diameter? Outside diameter?

Aliexpress has some offerings:

They have packs of mixed sizes for cheap, so ordering one probably will help to enhance your chances of finding a suitable size.

Seem to need a 23mm sized belt. 20 is too tight. And 25 is too loose. The 25 I have now seems to be stretched out, so 23 seems right.

Or maybe 25, depending on how it's measured.

I think I may have found a suitable 25mm OD replacement.
