I bought one of these Sintechi ide to sd adapters for a laptop i had.
i tried 2 sd cards different brands and sizes and same problem happened

When i boot my Dell 5000e, i can see the "Sintechi..." word on boot screen and being detected as a drive, but it hangs the laptop after the Sintechi word on the screen and never boots correctly. Have to push the power-on-off button

sometimes its not even detected and fdisk quits because there is no drive.

one of the sd cards works properly and is formated with windows98 (because i did use it on a thinkpad laptop, i even re-inserted it on the thinkpad after the dell and it booted win98 correctly)

so Dells are not compatible?
should i go to plan B and use a CF to ide adapter? what the hell is going on with Dell.

also have one and sdcards are only detected with 32mb... or not detected.
Or it works fine and if your machine freezes and you press reset your filesystem is defective..

i would recommend a small ssd with sata2ide adapter if you use win9x.
For DOS Machines i would use a CF Card.

There are CF adapters that have a jumper for master slave
and there are CF cards that have built in SD card slots

worth a try, i never tried those, cF cards are expensive, so they made those adapters so you can fit an SD card into a CF card

You can also try a Disk On Module (DOM)
They are fairly cheap available now and I so far never had one that failed me so far. 😀
I neither ever had a system that wouldn't recognize one..
