I've got a fully working Toshiba Satellite Pro 4340, upgraded to 320 Mb that has the original optical drive. It is a Teac CD-224E-B with firmware 7.6G, and according to Linux it is fitted at secondary/master IDE channel.

I also have a Fujitsu Lifebook C without HDD and a broken FDD connector (so it wil be trashed in a while) that have a QSI SDR-081 optical drive with firmware EJC5 and configured as secondary/master. I've tried to install the DVD into the Toshiba, but it doesn't get detected.

Does anybody knows if it can be done? How can I know what DVD drives are compatible with that Toshiba laptop?
