What I have here are comparisons between three different systems/builds:

1) Socket 7 (AMD K6/2-300) --> Maxtor 200GB HDD (32GB limit set due to BIOS incompatibilities with HDDs being larger than 32GB)
2) Socket 370 (VIA C3 700A) --> Maxtor 200GB HDD (32GB limit set since it was used in the Socket 7 machine)
3) Socket 462 (AMD Sempron 2200+) --> Maxtor 60GB HDD (purchased brand new last year)

Note: the Socket 7 and 370 used the same HDD (results for the benchmarks are close in similarity, except for the seek times and other results. The 60GB Maxtor HDD is slower than the 200GB HDD I had installed (I have a ton of games).

And here are the results:

The reason why the HDD benchmark is lower in the Socket 462(A) build is because of the speed in the BIOS has a limit, or I forgot to change the settings.

Looks like it's capped at ATA/33. You aren't missing that much performance in any case; at the bottom-left you can see it's performing only just behind the 40GB version of the same HDD.
