I have a Tandy 1000 TX that has an 8MHz 286 in it. It works just fine but what I want to know is how
feasible is it to overclock it to say, 10mhz? I don’t have any special reason for doing this other
than maybe running Wing Commander, but I think even at 10mhz it would still be a slideshow.
I think I might need to solder a new clock crystal in, it I recall the older systems did not have
adjustable clocks. Anyone else done something like this?

I have had no problems running a 10MHz CPU at 16MHz. They do get very hot though so you will need a heatsink. All I had to do was change the master clock oscillator.

It also depends on the chipset how it will take the higher clocks. But usually 10-20% overclock isn't a problem.

That’s why I was thinking 10mhz would be easier to pull off, just not sure I will notice an actual
difference for most things.
