Over the years I have managed to acquire a couple of motherboards to a point where I now have too many of them and wish to "donate" some of these to my local & fellow vintage computer enthusiasts.
I have a couple of 486 motherboards and I was wondering which of these are worth keeping (or are considered the best in terms of performance, stability, CPU support, etc.).

  • Soyo 025P1 Socket 3 VESA Local Bus motherboard with an SIS chipset. There's a Soyo sticker over the chipset so, I can't quite identify exactly which one but, if I had to guess, probably an SIS 85C471?
  • DTK PKM-0038S Socket 3 486 VESA Local Bus motherboard with an SIS 85C471 chipset (based on Total Hardware 99, this motherboard supports the later CPU's as well, like your AMD 5x86 & Cyrix 5x86 CPU's, although, this is probably more linked to the BIOS itself).
  • Chicony CH-491E Socket 3 486 VESA Local Bus motherboard with a UMC 82C491F chipset.
  • Chicony CH-471A Socket 3 486 VESA Local Bus motherboard with an SIS 85C471 chipset.

I also have an Asus VL/I-486SV2GX4 Socket 3 Vesa Local Bus motherboard with an SIS 85C471 chipset but, that I will definitely hold onto.
I received the Chicony CH-471A motherboard with an Intel 486DX-50 CPU (not DX2-50) and, I also don't want to give up this motherboard if it is better suited for a 486DX-50 CPU.

I realise that most of the motherboards I mentioned above have the same chipset, so I'm leaning towards letting both the Soyo 025P1 & DTK PKM-0038S go?

All of those boards seem pretty good to me.
