Hi guys,
Anyone here got an AST Manhattan quad 486 server? Except for a few ads in old magazines google has nothing on this.
Been looking for one since I first read about the machine years ago.
Large server (black, as the rest of the manhattan line), similar size to a tricord powerframe (think: small dishwasher).
From what I recall of the old advertisement photos, there's 2 cpu sockets with 2 cpus mounted in each, using what looked like a Y-shaped adapter thingy - pretty unusual design unless it was a photoshop.
Top spec being 4x 486DX-50's for the 486 model, though later models supported 5 x Pentium.
Might have used asymmetric multiprocessing rather than smp, but I won't swear on it 😀
