Hi all,

I cannot seem to fit the AT power supply switch in this shiny new AT case I just got. The problem is that the power switch needs to be mounted on the front plate and since the switch has cables coming out at 90 degrees it just does not allow the front plate to close. I've spent last 2 hours trying to fix this, I made the 90 degree switch as narrow as possible by soldering the 4 cables straight on the switch however as the picture shows below now the motherboard does not allow it to move.

What I need to make this work is a switch where the cables come straight through the back and not in 90 degrees. However looking around on the net it seems almost all AT switches have this 90 degree business.

Am I out of luck?

you can try to find a different style switch that the contacs are on the side or that the bracket is rotated 90 degrees. this is probably what i would do.

Or option B is to snip that metal piece above the switch in your pic and then flip the connector 180 degrees. This is probably also what I would do.

That is what I was hoping too, but I do not know if it exists. I tried searching but nothing came up. I was hoping people here can put me in the right direction.

If I flip it 180 degrees (which I have tried) it means I have to indeed snip that piece of metal. Which is easy however the REAL problem is the floppy drive cage that is removed from the picture. That metal piece that needs to be sniped is where the floppy drive cage is, so even if I remove the metal piece, if I want a floppy drive (which I kind of do) the power switch will not fit 180 degrees rotated.

What puzzles me really is how did I get myself in this situation? Looking on the web most tower cases seem to suffer from this problem. The previous case for this computer was a desktop case so fitted perfectly.

This seems to be a problem that really should not exist...

Grr, I have figured it out! The is a mounting metal plate that allows the switch to connect to the front of the case. That mounting plate can be rotated 90 degrees. It is not immediately obvious how, but it is possible. I found out by opening another tower case I have which had a similar feature.
