Many people recommended that I get a PCMCIA CompactFlash adapter for my Toshiba Libretto 50CT. I did, and it worked!.... For a few minutes. I went to copy Duke Nukem onto it, and the activity light on my CF reader was solid, in my case meaning that no activity was occurring. I figured it was done, so I removed the card, and put it in my PCMCIA adapter. Windows detected it as usual, I opened it, and realized that Duke Nukem was incomplete. No big deal, I thought. Just go back to the modern machine and finish copying it. So I did, returned to the Libretto, and Windows didn't see the card. I went back to the modern machine and was greeted with a bunch of garbage characters and weird corrupted files on the CF card. I reformatted it as FAT and the Libretto still doesn't see it. The Libretto beeps when the PCMCIA card is inserted, which only happens when the CF card is present. But it just doesn't see it. However, my CF reader on a modern machine can read and write to it no problem. Is the adapter defective? Did the CF card give up the ghost at the worst possible time? All suggestions are appreciated.
