Anybody have any experience working on/repairing this laptop?

Finding the active color screen model is proving pretty tough. Seems it's rare. There is, however, a decent deal on a tested working 4000m active color screen panel and assembly on the bay right now.

I'm wondering if I could just swap that into a standard color display model. I'm betting yes, but want to make sure before I spend money.

Personal experience with Toshiba laptops attempting to swap from DSTN to TFT is that it's not that simple. The signalling required for both is very different and even if the pinouts match, I think there are differences in the video BIOS.
If the video card is a separate component, that might work, but still fairly unlikely. That didn't work for me trying to use a 430CDT screen on a 430CDS, I think down the video bios but I don't want to investigate that further right now.

That (Toshiba Laptops) was exactly what made me think it might not be simple.

If I ever find one cheap enough, I may investigate. Those TI laptops are sorta tough to find period, so for now this will remain untested I suppose.
