I Have the CU4VX 1.03 and a via c3 800Amhz
My Cpu
VIA C3 800mhz (6x 133) 1.35 A350BN0 a VIA C3 Ezra. www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/C3/VIA-C3-800AMHz%20(1.35V).html
So this Motherboard will be compatible?

Retro rig 1: Asus CUV4X, VIA c3 800, Voodoo Banshee (Diamond fusion) and SB32 ct3670.
Retro rig 2: Intel DX2 66, SB16 Ct1740 and Cirrus Logic VLB.

The CUV4X 694X + 686A official support on ASUS site is PIII 933 Mhz. The lowest voltage is 1.65v
My cpu is 1.35v. No chances for this CPU working?

ASUS BIOS will allow only stock voltage or higher, you can't undervolt CPU.

A samuel one

They both will work. You can't undervolt CPU on ASUS motherboards of that time period.

just checked the Manual https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock370 … x/cuv4x-102.pdf, at page 57 only mentions options for avaliable Vcore for Coppermines and Katmais. The C3 600mhz should be safe (Vcore 1.9) but not sure for the c3800Amhz (Ezra).

Tested now. The C3 800a is being detected as pentium II 800Mhz 😕
The bios is 1004.
So i will get problems running as PII 800MHZ in windows?

Most likely not. The bios just doesn't have the stings needed to detect and label the CPU right. It picked the next best thing, a 800mhz PII. windows should see it as a C3.

The setmul will work fine too? Is the only reason to use this CPU for me.

Its been some time since I played with a C3. So I don't recall. Sorry.

A voodoo Banshee wouldbe a good choice for this cpu or a gf2mx?

I have yet to come across a Via mobo that does not support C3 cpus, at least after a bios update. Sometimes Ezras might be detected as Samuels, but still works fine. I don't really use Nehemiahs so I can't really say, but if you have a Ezra/Samuel and a Via mobo, I would say just update the bios and give it a go.

So peformance wise, this c3 800 Ezra is more or less a Celeron 300?

There were few threads on Vogons dedicated to C3 benchmarks and performance.

Not exact, but at 133mhz FSB the Ezra and Nehemiah CPUs have roughly half the IPC of the pentium 3 when it comes to integer performance.

The FPU performance on the Ezra and Ezra T is pretty bad. Software Quake will run at around 30fps at 640x480 with an Ezra CPU clocked to about 1ghz. The Nehemiah core has roughly double the FPU performance and can achieve higher clocks, but it responds differently to setmul than the Ezra.

Nehemiah runs it's FPU at full clock, so it's better than the Ezra in Quake. Still, I don't think FPU performance is a reason why anyone builds a C3 rig.
