sorry cannot find the full datasheet, only ch.13 the electrical and a text about signals, address mapping, etc
The manual you want is: 86C801/86C805 GUI Accelerators by S3 Incorporated, September 1992

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

It's kind of strange that the datasheet is missing considering how popular the 805 was. I wonder if S3 ever had it floating around on their FTP server?

I couldn't find it. But VIA still owns the graphics division of S3, so it's possible they might have it.

Any chance you could share the full 1992 datasheet with us ?

If I had it then yes 😀 Maybe there was a misunderstanding.I meant I have both the documents you posted, where the pdf is stripped down.
The picture of the datasheet I have found here: https://www.von-bassewitz.de/uz/oldcomputers/swap/
I have emailed the owner,if he can make a scan out of it, but dunno if I'll get any reply.

Drat. Hope they answer and good luck! Maybe if they won't scan it, maybe they will sell it to you?

I got a reply this morning, that he should still have the datasheet remembering not giving them away, although he can't find them now.So I'll have to wait if he has luck.

Meanwhile I got in touch with VIA to request datasheets from several S3 GPU's which can't be found online, but they can't find anything anymore since it's EOL more than 20 years 🙁

There was an intersting resource that stopped working. S3 is listed too.

There's the owner of http://mds.gotdns.com in LinkedIn. So you may ask him and maybe he'll help.

P.S. Obviously I don't know whether S3 805 chip datasheet was there or not.
