I have it! I have it! My Toshiba 2805 with Geforce 2go finally arrived! As described, screen is burned, but I've got another Toshiba with Savage videocard, so I've switched the screens and now I've got perfect machine. Even hinges are perfectly fine. Already tested stuff and everything is working fine.

Only one thing bothers me: build games (duke 3d, blood) got some screen jerking from time to time: https://youtu.be/z-l3V0MXOzk

Tried even under dos mode, same stuff.

Try to load some VESA driver under DOS. These can be found in some DOS games or here somewere on Vogons - uni VBE. After loading it under dos run Blood setup and choose 640x480 or 800x600. Let us know it that help.

Well... I miss 80/90s ... End of story

I need some additional testing, but looks like 320x200 doesn't produce such glitches, I only see it in high resolution. Both in native dos and win 98.

Warlord, did you test it in 320x200 or higher?

like I said before my laptop doesn't have that issue. I don't have any strange artifacts, or screen res issues. Might has something to so with the LCD you replaced your broken LCD with.

try some of these fixes on this page and see if it helps you. https://gona.mactar.hu/DOS_TESTS/
can you also try slowing down your cpu.

I know that it's the same laptop we are speaking about but there's always probability that there are some differences (rev, builds etc.)

Actually, it's not the same, it's similar. Mine is 603 and Warlord has 402. I've got some strange slot called SmartMedia under DVD-ROM. Also, the modem slot is different and usess another type of connection (I've got 401 model and can compare). Maybe they are using another revision of geforce 2, I dunno. But so far these two build games are the only ones that gave me a headache

maybe a good compromise is to add a audigy2 zs into the mix for sound in some windows games. I have the cardbus version but I have never tried using it. I wonder if like the PCI card you can force Audigy 1 vxd drivers to install on it. I read that duke3d works on audigy2zs

thanks hopfully that helps somone, but our laptops use nvidia which are VBe 3.0 already and don't use are need univbe. or vesa drivers, nor will any of those programs or tsrs work with them.
however a program like
Rob Muller drivers may help in some cases
vbeplus https://gona.mactar.hu/DOS_TESTS/vbeplus.zip

vesa12 https://gona.mactar.hu/DOS_TESTS/vesa12.zip

Modified univbe.drv https://gona.mactar.hu/DOS_TESTS/modified.zip

Well, this Toshiba 5205 is surprisingly unfriendly dos the laptop. It doesn't have BIOS and will alter its brightness only via Windows app, if you go into dos brightness will be always on minimum. Also, like I mentioned above, I've got some strange artifacts in dos games. Later dell with GeForce 4200 doesn't have them. It's strange.

you can change the brightness in the bios. Theres also a utility called Toshiba Hardware Setup that allows you to enter the bios from the command prompt and you can change the brightness there. I don't have the laptop in front of me but I am 100% sure of that. In the bios you must select "User Define" under power options.

This thing was fixed with NOLFB patch (http://dnr.duke4.net/patches.php.html). I've tried under Win 98 and it worked, then I've tried under clean DOS, launched without patch and screen flashes, then activated patch and all is fine.

NOLFB disables the linear framebuffer in VESA 2.0+ BIOS

I didn't see any chance in picture quality, wonder what I've lost?)
