Hey Guys! I needed to know where I could get l2 cache modules (8 Chips) totaling 1024k? I'm pretty sure the board supports it, But only one way to find out! ; )

Look for IS61C1024-15 on eBay.

But be prepared to order more than you need as many of these chips will be dead on arrival.

Depending on your motherboard you might also need to upgrade 9th tag chip or 10th dirty tag chip.

I got mine from utsource.net - you can also try alibaba or aliexpress

In my 486 it made little difference upgrading from 256kb to 1mb, beyond the number on the POST screen. Maybe if I was running 64mb of RAM or something equally ridiculous for a 486, but those big SIMMs are probably harder to find than the cache chips.

If you are squeamish, don't prod the beach rubble.

I...don't know what you mean? 16MB 72pin SIMMs are super easy to find. Now, 64mb of 30pin RAM, that would be expensive.

Ridiculous is 128MB RAM in my Macintosh SE/30 (1989 system).

64MB RAM wasn't that uncommon in 486 days if you were doing stuff like DTP in Aldus Pagemaker or QuarkXPress.

Thanks! Found some. I'm upgrading the living sh* out of an IBM PS/1 which will have 1024k Cache, Pentium 63 OD, 64mb RAM, XTIDE and will update the bios. Unfortunately, my manual does not specify max Cache supported, so wish me luck : )

How on God's Green Earth did you get that much RAM on an SE/30? Accelerator Card?

Sorry to say, but that's nonsense.
You have to check at least if your cache sockets are 32pin.

Lol, do you have a prove for that?

Yes, we need to really wish you good luck to put the 32pin chips into the 28pin sockets.

Have fun.

You guys might remember my post from yesterday. Well, I miscounted. My PS/1 2168 has 28 pin DIP sockets, not 32 pin... So are there any boards that would let me put those chips on an ISA board?

Regular SE/30 has 8x 30p SIMM slots. Populate them with 16MB SIMMs and you get 128MB. I did the same when I briefly had an SE/30 back in the 00's.
