Hi all, I'm new here. I have a problem with a very old computer. I'm trying to start it again after at least 20 years of inactivity but at the start I get long beep error (short intervall between one and the next). The motherboard is a PCChips M519 and the BIOS is an Award bios pci/pnp 586. Due to long one beep maybe it's a RAM problem, but also changing one bank at a time on the slot 1, the problem persist. What can I do ? Thanks

The manual will explain the beep codes. Go find it!

Besides that, always check/replace batteries on old equipment; that frequently causes hangups, and if you continue to have issues, remove parts until there's nothing but the base system for diagnosis. I picked up a system last year that wasn't modified; it refused to boot with the processor cache card (but without it, or with one of my spares works), not at all what I expected since it's an OEM configuration, but the point is removing possible sources of trouble helps you diagnose what is happening.

He is the only manual I could find, but it has no beep codes .

See https://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm for some Award BIOS beep codes

Hi, thanks to all for the answers. The CMOS battery is brand new. I've disconnected also all the devices from the motherboard. Now on the mainboard there are only the CPU (with no external cache), RAM and the power supply but the problem still persist.
