Hi,

teaming up with Matze, I made a compact PCB, inspired by his PS/2 mouse to serial port converter.
This works fine now, and I soon will have a first batch available.
It plugs directly on the DB9 serial port, and allows to connect a PS/2 mouse, and has an USB connector for 5V power.
A 3d printed enclosure is being designed as well.

I will post more information in this thread.

It's remarkable how Serdashop manages to offer niche (relatively small production run), but very useful, often unique and high quality products at very reasonable prices . This is one that I do not personally need, but I would buy it in an instant if I did .

Excellent news! Will the enclosure be available soon? I want to get one but since I want the enclosure as well should I wait a bit?

Yes better wait for the enclosure then, it may take some time until it is available though

Nah, if it's not just a couple of days I'm getting it now and we'll add the enclosure in the next order, there will be a next order for sure 😉

There are many passive serial to ps2 adapters. What is the benefit of this one?

This one is active . It will work with PS/2 mice that do not have serial compatibility built in .

The passive adapters require a mouse that already supports the serial protocol .

This is a great idea I like how small and compact it is. It'll be nice to use optical mice on older systems as well as making it easier to use with newer KVM's.

Has it been tested on KVM switches? Does it work with them?

By the way, is it possible to power the adapter with this solution?

Where can I buy these? I wasn't able to find them on ebay and they look like an excellent solution, no extra adapters/plugs

Yes, but due double Translation its possible you get delay.
But not all Devices are tested.
I use it daily with my Lindy KVM and its also tested by few Members of dosreloaded.de.
Christian Machill did rewrite the whole Firmware back then to make it better compatible.
NuXT also runs this Converter Device onboard.

Its highly recommend to use High Speed Mode (19200 Bauds)
The Adapter is configurable by Software.
But needs Special Drivers then.

I will update the Stuff during the Week and Dreamblaster can add it to its repository.
It needs some Translation as its german only currently.
