Hi guys, It's working now!
I figured out the problem with the noise and crackling, and it got fixed by disabling USB 2.0-support in bios.

The sound works fine now in 98se and also playing Midi-files, but I can't get the sound and music to work in Duke Nukem 3D under 98SE.
When I choose General Midi it says: Could not detect Mpu-401.
When choosing SB it says the same but with the FM-chip..
It was the same before with the WDM-drivers.

In the device manager for sound all I have is:
Creative Audio Processor
MPU 401-Compatible
Gameport/joystick

Shouldn't the Audigy 2 work fine with DOS-games under Windows 98?

If you do a clean install of Windows and follow my guide, you should be able to install VXD drivers from the CD image linked in that thread, despite your card not being a ZS.

Hello,
Would this fix my problem I wrote above?

Kind regards!

What are the specs of the rest of your system?

The crackling thing was pretty big back in the day though I never experienced it on any of my builds except one where it was cured by moving the card to another PCI slot.

Lowering the PCI latency setting in BIOS might help as well.

Creative blamed the motherboard and chipset makers and the motherboard and chipset makers blamed Creative.

Hello,
My setup is:
CPU: Pentium 4 1.7GHz (socket 478)
RAM: 512mb RAM
Motherboard: MEDION Md5000 (latest bios)

Soundcard: Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 SB0350

Yes, you would get fully functional SB16 emulation as well as the ability to load soundfonts for General MIDI music in DOS games.

Just remember that a clean install of Win98SE is required in order for everything to work correctly.
