Hi,

i run a Tyan 1696D i trying to Replace my 2x PII 300 with 2x PII 333 SL2TV same Stepping.

But with then i get random delays.. SMP issues.
before i had mismatched steppings with same issues.

This does not happen with Dual PII 300s.
so i guess this is BIOS related somehow.
As the PII 333s are now same Steppings..

Anyone knows howto find the latest BIOS for 1696D ?

The benefit of running 2x PII 333 is not only 33Mhz more, it is half Power Usage per CPU.
A PII 300 burns 43 Watts a PII 333 is somewhere in the 20-25W Range.

Thanks for Help

Matthias

You can get it from the Tyan ftp site

ftp://ftp.tyan.com/bios/

The filenames begin LX96

Looks as if v2.02 (or v2.02R if you have the RAID card) is the latest

ok then already the latest BIOS in on it.

Thanks anyway!

The BIOS really sucks on this Board, it does not have proper ACPI, and various other Issues.
