So I've got an old still working lite scribe DVD-RW drive, and i really do want to keep it working, but the button fell off and the bezel is cracked, drive still works its just unsightly now. I test fit one from a totally broken DVD-RW drive that's not light scribe and with some minor modifcations it works quite well, except the eject button on the replacement isn't long enough to easily hit the button the drive. It just barely hits it when i force it down all the way, but I want to put it back into an HP and that doesn't work as its drive cover doesn't apply enough pressure. I was thinking on the bezel to remove it again and build up with baking powder and superglue on the backside of the eject button to extend it slightly so it works better. Is this a viable long term plan, would it work?

Baking powder can make superglue thicker, but superglue creates very stiff connections which can crack under mechanical pressure. I had some success with reinforcing broken parts with a fiberglass mesh (cut out of an anti-insect net) glued onto them with epoxy (metal mesh or plastic mesh maybe would work too). Maybe you could even drop some epoxy onto that button without any reinforcement and it should work fine. Superglue could chip off after some time.
