I've recently picked up a second hand Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback Wheel which is in very good condition, the original joystick/MIDI connector version rather than USB.

It was one of those pieces of hardware I used to drool over as a kid, but couldn't afford to splash out on. So the purchase was purely nostalgia driven.

I've connected it up to my 200MHz MMX Packard Bell running Windows 95 and have successfully tested it out through the calibration software.

It came with a copy of Monster Truck Madness 2 which I took for a quick spin and worked reasonably well.

What I'd really like to know is what are the recommended games that will really take advantage of this hardware for my 200MHz era machine?

Reading the list at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PC_game … _support#Racing shows quite a few modern era games. Although the earlier Need For Speed games would run on the PC.

Please give me your recommendations!

Never had one but found some info that may help:
Here is some test review info: http://www.hardware-one.com/reviews/mswheel/index.shtml page 3 has a small list of games tested.

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor.

You suck, I've been looking out for one of those for years 😜
Ok maybe you don't as I only look every now and then.

I've the Logitech wheel from the same year with IMHO is the better wheel BUT it has 1 drawback it's not -iForce 1.0 compatible.
Your MS wheel is however so you can play NFS 1 SE and NFS 2 with force feedback enabled and make me jealous while your at it.

This post lists other iForce 1.0 games
Unique Force Feedback API Support

As for games in general apart from NFS I also like
Powerslide from 1998

I had bought the steering wheel at the time and TOCA2 was a revelation with it. You can use it for newer Games too, Grid from 2007 runs perfect with them.
Current I own 3 from the wheels. For the last one, CiB, I only payed the shipping costs...
