So i have a Sony C1VN picturebook, im trying to install the driver for audio on windows 2000..i get the driver from the ftp..and its just a zipo extractor that spits out INF files..what am I supposed to do?
Ive tried the add hardware wizard and each time it fails to find any drivers, despite me linking it to the folder
What do I do?

Are you sure the drivers you are trying to install are the right ones for your audio device ?

Are you sur those drivers are compatible with Windows 2000 ?

Can you share a link to those drivers ?

Can you post the card's PCI device ID for the card, you can use pcilist.exe : https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/pci_list.html ? Specifically, please post the equivalent of this screenshot for your card, it will include all required info (Vendor ID , Device ID , Susbsytem ID) :

Original file name for the installer should be:
YA512C2K.EXE
according to this page:
http://sonyvaiodriver.com/category/sony-vaio- … g-c1vn-drivers/

You really need to check the correct file name before trying to install anything from the FTP backup as there are going to be a bunch of different installers for different models.

This is probably the file you need .

Filename
YA512C2K.EXE
File size
4.51 MiB
Downloads
28 downloads
File license
Fair use/fair dealing exception

Having the PCIList info would allow confirming this .

That is strange since the file names on that page should match with what is on the ftp backup.

The name of the one you originally downloaded looks like it is probably for the later AC97 only Yamaha chips.

Inside the INF file in that driver set , the line

%*WDM_DS1Native.DeviceDesc%=WDM_DS1Native, PCI\VEN_1073&DEV_0012&SUBSYS_80B0104D

seems to match your hardware .

Try unzipping the file attached and updating the driver from device manager while pointing to the directory created by the aforementioned unzipping .

Well, I did upload the factory C1VN recovery CDs to archive.org a while back. Pretty sure those are for Windows 98SE though.

Ok, for the video driver try:
VCD_ATI_5021955036.EXE

I was one of the original downloaders of the FTP and I still have a full copy on my computer. You could also download the whole ftp from archive.org that I uploaded but it is huge.
