Hi! I searching the dos program that can run 32 bit 386 program on a 286. Thanks

I cant find it anywhere. It was made by a author, it was on his web site. I dont remember his name.

I want to try it on my 286-12mhz with 4megs.

Maybe Jazz Jackrabbit will run and other games or programs 😀

Thanks for help or the link to it.

As discussed in the thread I linked, it works for real mode applications only, which eliminates most 386 apps, including Jazz Jackrabbit.

Yes, I'm afraid that's the case.
Early 386 games from the 90s usually like to use that "flat-mode" model, also.

I'm afraid the only feasible method of running such games would be installing one of these 286 to 486 upgrade boards.
These where little daughter boards that plugged onto the 286 CPU socket.
MakeIt! 486 was one of these models.

In the 1980s, there also were accelerator boards, which plugged into ISA slots.
They were mainly intended for 8088 motherboards ("Intel Inboard 386") but a few models for 286 motherboards also existed.

PS: EMU386 is still useful, though.
I got quite a few 386 games running with it that run in Real-Mode and use no DOS Extenders.

Thanks for answer guys. I dont want to upgrade the 286. I have one computer in each generation, 8088, 286, 2x386, 2x486 and several p1, p2, p3,p4. I just hoped that Jazz Jackrabbit would run on a 286. But if its not possible, thats fine.
I have a problem with my new 286, i will make a new topic in a few minutes. Thanks again.

Cool links, thank you.... the real question is though, can it make a 386sx16 run like a real 386? 😉

Is there a program/game that works on a 386DX and doesn't on a 386SX? I highly doubt it.

One that uses/requires >16MB RAM, I suppose.

Other than that it's the same core and instruction set, so apart from poorer performance it should work identically.

A joke because sx16s always seem to feel doggy slow, like under 50% of a 20, instead of 80%, 20 to 25 is the same % jump, but they feel closer than 16-20

I get it... but I have a plan on building the slowest 386 and SX-16Mhz would fit perfectly - just for pure amusement as a joke 🤣 I don't have 16MHz and will have to downclock a 25Mhz one 🤣

Requests are also possible... /msg kixs

I've only got one that I care about getting working it's a Goldstar GS520 clamshell laptop. ... and then I might have to write 286-12 on a piece of masking tape stuck under the screen so I don't get too mad with it 🤣 ... though for serious I decided to pretend it's a 286 for software purposes because I think it's only got a megabyte installed and most 386 up stuff tends to want more.
