Hi, I have dual PPro MSI MS-6103 with two onboard USB ports that I'm trying to get working under Win2K SP4.

The BIOS has two options: "Enable USB" and "Enable USB Keyboard Support". If I enable USB Keyboard Support then Win2K hangs on boot. If I enable only USB, Win2K boots, installs its own driver for Intel 82371SB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller, reboots, but after that Device Manager is showing yellow exclamation mark and in the Device Status properties it says: "

Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or BIOS update (Code 35).

" I have the latest BIOS loaded. I do not have any original USB drivers, not sure if any existed, but can't find any. There are no resource conflicts.

I tried connecting to it USB mouse and joystick just in case I get lucky, but nothing happened, no new HW found.

Any advice?

Possibly an answer: "I'm not too sure about the difficulty of finding someone using a PR440FX here, I think there are still quite a few in service around here. Anyway, I got my problem fixed with some help from someone over at 2CPU. I had to go into the BIOS setting under Advanced Chipset settings and change the PCI IRQ Mapping - To ISA Legacy IRQs"

Interestingly, under Win95C the OS autodetects the USB controller, installs built in drivers and USB works. This surprised me, I would have thought Win2K would be easier to setup than Win95. Unfortunatelly, I wanted to use it with MS Sidewinder USB joystick and MS only provided drivers for Win98 not Win95. 🙁

Edit: just realized Win95C might have worked because when I first setup Win95 while back I might have installed Intel Chipset driver which I think included USB driver.

Doing this search shows a driver - whether it can solve your issue I cannot say. https://www.google.com/search?q=82371SB+usb+w … Dh1QMIDQ&uact=5

Thanks again for the advice. I tried those as well, turns out it’s the same version as what’s included with Wink2K SP4.
