For some reason, nusb changes some parts of Windows 98 to english. Since english isn't my native language and I like to have Windows 98 in my own language, that's kind of a major downside.

Are there any other Windows 98 USB drivers that work well? I tried googling, but couldn't find much useful.

The thing was, they weren't very universal, they'd work with a line of products, but not those of another manufacturer. Though I think you could still manually force Win98 to use the "wrong" drivers with the Add New Hardware wizard.

The one I think I was using "in the day" on 98SE was this one, https://archive.org/details/cruzerfamily98sedriver having had a cruzer stick initially, and I believe I got (maybe forced) it to work with some other sticks.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Dutch, I live in the Netherlands.

It changes part of the Start menu to english, as well as the tooltips that show up when you keep the mouse cursor on a file or folder.

Also, in System Info, it says "Windows ME" after installation, even though it's a Windows 98 SE machine.

Back in the day you got driver CDs with USB drives. I don't know how they work and never tried them. By the time I got to use USB devices XP SP2 was out and it didn't need special drivers and I generally use english Windows or don't mind nusb messing with the language.

I'd just try to find some of those old flash drive driver CDs to see if they work.

NUSB comes from Windows ME, that's normal.

NUSB in deustch language is available here : https://www.creopard.de/download/detail/nusb36a_de/15.htm

BTW, on the same website there's also unnoficial Service Packs for Win98SE, again in Dutch language : https://www.creopard.de/projekte/windows-98-s … ervice-pack.htm

Ah crap !

I remember a page with 10 or more languages variants of NUSB36, but I can't find it. So frustrating !

Could the English version be translated into Dutch ?

If the text is defined as a resource in the EXE/DLL, softwares such as Resource Explorer can edit it without problems...

Only NUSB 3.6 changes Win98SE to WinME under System Properties.

Earlier versions like NUSB 3.3 don't do that.

I can't read the instructions, and Google translate doesn't work on this website for some reason. Can anyone translate? The zip file has no executable.

I will try that out, thanks.

Btw, does anyone know how difficult it would be to translate the unofficial service pack 3.65 to my own language? Might be a nice hobby project. The latest version I can find in my language is 2.0.3.

Edit: Tried it. It works! Thanks a bunch.

It's not that difficult, but time consuming.
Try to get as much files in NL language in their latest version before translating the rest.

I briefly skimmed through the exe file for Unofficial Service Pack 3.66 with Resource Hacker, but most of the text inside seems to pertain to the installation of the service pack, not so much the files it installs. That's not all there is to it, right?

See if this helps you with using NUSB while retaining your original language:
https://cloakedthargoid.wordpress.com/nusb-wi … 8-language-fix/

I recall I used these instructions on a Hebrew-enabled version (where the interface is in English, but there is Hebrew support), and it made the system work after NUSB "broke" it. However, it is not exactly your situation.

I do not suggest to bother with the Unofficial Service Pack. I tried it once and it broke some things (don't remember what exactly) and changed some settings in a way that was annoying and hard to revert (ended up reinstalling that OS).
