Something really basic like this one? CPU on flat surface and set this on top of it. Height is a few tenths less than CPU so you can add some weight on it.
I haven't printed this yet but on next week I may have some time to play with it.

Yes, that can be done. I can make a sketch. Actually that was my first idea, but then I decided to make it easy and simple as possible.

Yes, that can be done. I can make a sketch. Actually that was my first idea, but then I decided to make it easy and simple as possible.

Case fitting could be two tents narrower. Lid fits but is a bit on the tight side. I think it would be perfect after some scraping with knife. In the end it should work well enough.

Just made a quick sketch of the "two piece idea" and it prints already. This is just to test dependencies of two joining pieces.

On my K6-2+ 533; today I reattached the IHS. I again used AS5 for the core (after having completely cleaned both the core and the shield) but this time I used Permatex Ultra Black gasket maker for the corners. All I want out of an adhesive for this application is for it to be able to hold the IHS on when I remove the heat sink (rather than sticking to the heat sink) since the clamping force of the heat sink does the job the rest of the time, and after letting it run Prime95 most of the day I swapped the cooler and the IHS stayed on the CPU. With AS5 between the IHS and the core, and between the heat sink and the CPU, it runs at 616 with the core voltage at 2.2. The smaller Socket 7 CPU cooler I was using wasn't up to the job, and it would CTD when running 3D Mark - thinking it was too low on the core voltage, I went as high as 2.4, but the problem persisted. So I put on a bigger cooler (a Startech Socket 370) and was then able to lower the core voltage to 2.2 and it ran flawlessly.

Found acceptable dimensions. Looks like a good fit on the loose side so you don't have to hammer it down.
Some kind of "handle" would be great on the roof part, but it would also make printing much more difficult. I think it's fine as it is for a couple of glue jobs.

I redid the IHS on my 570E with the Ultra Black, and tried out a new Socket 370 cooler. These are available on Ebay for $10.00 plus shipping. It runs a little cooler, but the installed fan (same size, both 60 MM) runs about 2,000 RPM less, so lower noise level.

As far as overclocking goes, I can hit 616 on my Epox board with no issue; that's the speed I've left it at. In my Soyo board I could hit 620 (5x124) with this cpu, as well as with my K6-2+ 550, but when I try it in this board it won't always POST, etc. So I'm going to recap my Epox board to make sure that isn't the issue. I ordered the caps today.

This HSF looks rather nice. It's also quite similar in design to one type of stock sA HSF that used to cool my Barton 3200+ though that HSF had a copper base.
