So as I continue on my path of creating my classic DOS machine I have run into a new problem.

My VLB HDD/FDD Controller was working great. Now, the FDD part just stopped working. I tried 2 different cables and 3 drives. Nothing. It doesn't even try to boot from the floppy anymore. It was working for weeks.

The only thing that changed is on troubleshooting my sound card we found a broken 12v trace going to ISA bus (thanks to VOGONS). I repaired the trace and got that all working. Now I have sound, who hoo.

I don't think that would have anything to do with the FDD Controller all of a sudden not working. the HDD still works fine. The system in general is rocking.

After all of that I guess my question is, do FDD controllers just die like that? I've never seen it. Bad drives? Sure.
