Bottom line is that it was a fairly random affair with different (partial) locks not strictly tied to S-Spec, which is why two CPUs with same S-Spec can give different results - and why date codes are so interesting if you want to figure out what's what.

New data!!! 75mhz fsb test 3.5/1.5x

I found 166 pentiums with 3.5x multiplier!!!😱

The two on the bottom support 3.5x but the ones on top do not.

Of the top ones, Some post at 200, some post at 150 with these settings. Which I saw before with some of the 200s

But the bottom ones post at 266

I’m wondering of there is enough data here for people buying cpus to tell if they are buying a unlocked unit or not?

So, based on these data, SL27H seems to be with enabled 3.5 multiplier until some time between wk 36/97 and wk 42/97, where as SY037 is locked already in wk 33/96.

Oh, wait, the SY037 are not MMX, I think that the P54CS has never had the 3.5 multiplier, so that might be why 🤣

This is about where and when the timeline was born ... 😀 I see that the author is still active on the forums.

I’m thinking of a new test.

To run all my pentiums through I have like 75 I think..

Should simply setting 1.5x:3.5x and seeing what happens tell us what we need to know or should I try it with other Xs

It seems like there are three types from my recent testing.

1.5/3.5x = 3.5x
1.5/3.5x = 1.5x
1.5/3.5x = 2x

Not sure what chips lower than 166 will give as haven’t tester yet.

But data on the three types may be of use
