would this work on Intel Atom based Netbooks like an Aspire One D250?
I'm not quite sure what chipset they have but graphics is GMA 950.
You can check your chipset with Everest Home/Aida32/HWiNFO32 and many other software. It probably shows on boot too during self test.
As for the reason for this, you do get a tiny ~Pentium 3 performace level laptop without 3D acceleration which is I guess alright if you don't need that.
