I'm looking to buy the next fastest Athlon 64 x2 because the 6400+ is basically unobtanium. I understand that the Brisbane core 6000+ has half the L2 cache and as a result is slower, but there is apparently another low-power SKU of the 6000+ (ADA6000IAA6CZ) vs the standard 125w part (ADX6000IAA6CZ). They also have different steppings listed here:

I can't find documentation on whether they perform differently, so if someone knows the difference, please tell me before I buy the worse part. Thanks in advance.

My understanding is the 89w is more energy efficient and compatible with a wider selection of motherboards due to the lower power requirements. I presume the 125w will overclock better. Otherwise, they are the same.

Would the 89w not overclock better on the basis of running a lower voltage by default?

You're probably right. I was looking at the 125w and only thinking "more power, more fast" Toolman, style.
