I've resisted thus far. I actually non technically sort of own 1, a gringo 98 that is, an NEC APC-III. They are so rare, while real 98s are a dime a dozen (in Japan anyway).
I have a few, but more out of curiosity and history of japanese computers, I like the way japanese computers of that time implemented expansion cards that you can access even when the PC case is closed up
Well you'll also need to render praise for the Tandy 2000, which also employed an externally accessible card cage. Various elements of the T2K were made by Mitsubishi, the monitors in particular, I want to say the cpu was entirely designed and built in the US.
My NEC APC-III is infinitely more sturdy and even more reliable then the T2K. I've toasted more then 1 unit by allowing a corner of the case to slip off the end of a table, thereby warping the case. The T2Ks plastic case was beautiful, but flimsy bullshit. Thr APC was built like a brick poop palace.
