So I have recently completed a somewhat functional Socket 370 windows 98 pc build. However it has some issues, starting with it does not seem to work when there is a fan attached to the CPU. The computer still works if the fan is powered but without it being mounted but when the fan is mounted, the computer fails to start in a way indicative of a CPU failure. The CPU is a Celeron 433 Mhz. I am using a coolermaster fan with a heatsink. The motherboard is a P6BAP-A+. Any information will help. Thanks!
(Side note: I had to reseat the CPU to get it to work again after the fan messed everything up).

anything look off with either the socket or the cpu, both alone and with the cooler mounted?

Not exactly, Cooler looks good and the CPU goes into the socket fairly easily and everything is fairly clean.

I guess what I'm looking for, specifically, is if mounting the cooler causes something to flex a bit too much since you say things stop working once you actually attach it; it's really about the only thing I can think of since you say everything works when plugged in so long as the heatsink hasn't been mounted.
