Is there a fast way to tell FPM sticks from EDO sticks ?

I have a pile of 72 pin sticks and need an easy method to tell the FPM modules from the EDO modules, some of them are marked with stickers but quite a few of them have no identifying markings. I do have a 486 motherboard that can accept either but not both types at once and well this is an issue, is it possible to identify the type by markings on the ICs ?

Any help here would be appreciated.

Edit - is there a memory tester that can do this ?

The chipset usually reports if the SIMMs are FPM or EDO so just check what the chipset reports

Is there a DOS version of this SIV32 ?

No and it won't run on WFW 3.11 either. You would need the original W95 build 950 or later or Windows NT 3.51 or later. Further SIV should need to support whatever chipset the 486 MB has.

If there is no other way to identify them then Ill have to pull out one of the i430 boards I have and setup Win95 on it.

read the chip markings and look up the datasheet.
which ofcourse only works if you can find a datasheet.

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

Yes ..very true, Ill give that a shot might find sheets for the better known ones which will thin the pile out.
