Just discovered this guy https://www.youtube.com/@oldertechtoday seems more like "middle aged" hardware you might say, but some of the trailing edge appears to overlap what some are calling retro already.

The latter is a 'no frills' "listen and make up your own mind" kind of channel... something I find very useful sometimes.

TechTangents actually streams on twitch quite regularly. If you like his content, I'd advice you to follow his twitch channel if you happen to also be active there.

ah yes I've been watching this channel too, very meticulous and complete - everything that can be rescued is rescued, a little bit like necroware in terms of technical depth

HighTreason is straight to the point. I like it! His best video imo is actually not at all about PCs, but about a (Dutch) cartoon series from the late 80's early 90's (Alfred J Kwak) and as a Dutch person I think the way he explained himself, I was thoroughly impressed! Really good. I still watch that video from time to time.

If you're interested in PC-98 computers and Macs then there's this channel. Which is Japanese but the videos are not speaking and are instead fully subtitled, Youtube can translate this very consistently: https://www.youtube.com/@oldmac.pc-98/videos
I find his videos fun to watch since they've got a rather unique visual style while still being quite technical 😀 I'm less interested in Macs but like those videos too regardless. The PC-98 videos are fascinating though since they're cool looking computers that are hard & expensive to get outside of Japan.

It's filmed very casually but it features complete sets with original monitors (Pc-98, Sharp X68000, Fujitsu FM Towns, MSX...), original arcade machines, etc. He's been in Japan for 20 years and has amassed a huge collection of stuff that he repairs and maintains

Great thread and some awesome small channel shout-outs - I've Subbed to a few I hadn't heard of on the back of these.

My recommendations of some smaller channels from the UK that haven't been mentioned yet would be:

If you want to know what gaming felt like as a kid in the late eighties-early/mid nineties in the UK, he's yer man! Less PC stuff, more ZX Spectrum, but does the odd PC game.

Personally, I did enjoy watching Retro Snippets in the past years.
There has been some inactivity in the channel for a while, though.
