It says free shipping for me.

Hmm... I wonder how it's calculated.

This is for a $9 item.

This is for a $9 item.

To Europe it's over 115 bucks by economy shipping... 😲

Options (choose the most realistic one):
1) the US dollar has dropped massively in value in the last week.
2) the item weighs a metric f***ton.
3) the seller thinks the crisis with North Korea has already started World War Three and he's banking on rising prices.
4) shipping from the USA to outside the USA has become so incredibly dangerous even a $9 item needs to be insured up to 9000.
5) the seller put a decimal point wrong.

This is probably hazardous rain gutter spouts and need to be escorted by Gordon Freeman itself all the way. Gabe Newell find that way from many other to fund Half Life 3 devs

This motherboard probably qualifies.

Notice the bulging caps.

That may be one of those shady money laundering listings. That, or maybe the lister was thinking 8000 yen instead of dollars.

This seller has 3,4k transactions. That's beginner kind of mistake. Nice try, why did they trurn it into 8,0000 yen instead to make it buyer win? That's obvious reason

The seller posted on the retro machines facebook page, then I see this on my ebay notifications. for an INSANE overprice, not to mention his cpu will burn out the cpu complex. He neglected to upgrade the power transistor.

Not saying you cant profit from this hobby, but there is a limit.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

I have a feeling this is people trying to find out what sort of insane reserve price the seller is asking. I really can't imagine it's worth that much.

As much as I tend to waste on this hobby I much rather have a nice shiny new car than spend that much on a Lisa, sure it is probably a bit more rare than other Lisa models and it has a hard drive to go with it but even on the current bid is steep. If I wanted to burn a pile of money I much rather have a Yamaha CS80.

On a far away planet reading your posts in the year 10,191.

Yeah, with the new alfa giulia coming over here, I think 40k could definitely be better spent on a car.

It's a rarer dual CPU capable model, but not sure it's worth the asking price. Not sure about the shipping though.

Judging by how the item description and title are formatted, I would imagine those listings are mainly targeted to businesses that still use legacy software/hardware since the seller offers technical support, the expensive price is because the seller is trying to pass these off as "like brand new" condition when they're really refurbished.

Well on the bright side, At least the Dimension 4100 has the option for a $37/month rental for 24 months, and the GX260 has the option for "best offer" if you contact the seller.

These days my preference for what old system to buy on eBay is simply buying a cheap "parts or repair" system and refurbishing it with a replacement hard drive and maybe some upgrades here and there.

Isn't this one of those dime-a-dozen Cirrus Logic video cards? Or is it some sort of rare variety that he wants $30 for it?

Also, note the (3dfx era) addendum in the listing title to get more views. 🤣
