Free 750watt Platinum rated psu. Had some pcie cables catch on fire, gunna do some modifications and fix the issues. Should make a great replacement for a literal firehazard a friend is using.

Bought DDR2 RAM for my laptop (2x 512MB (1 Samsung, 1 Hynix), 3x 1GB (1 Samsung, 2 Hynix), and 1x 2GB Hynix). I installed 3GB (same speed and brand) into my Compaq Presario C700 notebook computer since I put the 2GB stick I had in it into my mom's Dell Inspiron 1525 notebook I'm currently working on (installing updates, installed iTunes, LibreOffice, Java, Flash Player, and Chrome, and I also copied the data I backed up onto a flash drive, such as TV shows, pictures, documents, and favorites).

I just got back from the tmobile store and I ordered this: https://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/galaxy-note9/

Got the 512gb blue model. I've wanted a note for years, and I'm finally getting one. But it's backordered until the 19th so that sucks...

I bought a new EVGA 1080 for cheap to replace the MSI 660 Ti I have been nursing on for six years. I wanted to get an MSI, but EVGA was much less expensive for the same specs. It was longer than I thought and it was a tight squeeze in my case (that's what she said.)

The 660 Ti still works great and I'll put it in another PC. I hope the 1080 lasts as long as the 660 Ti.

Oh, i'm in that boat too. I've already seen used prices drop $100 in the last week and I expect them to plummet once the fanboys get the 2080's. it's like $550 for one now, (ebay) and the price is only going down. my ati 480 will go out the the garage and I'll have a video card powerful enough for Cyberpunk 2077.

I think the early adopters are already selling their cards and running on integrated graphics until their preordered cards ship. I'd make some low ball offers and see if any of them bite.

BTW: eBay had a 15% off site-wide coupon yesterday. If you were lucky, Bob, you could have had a new EVGA 1080 for under $400. 😀

I know some people are predicting fire sale prices on new 10 series cards when the 2080s come out. But I think Nvidia wants as much of the 10x0 inventory sold before they ship to 2080s and 2080 Tis. And the 2080 and 2080 Ti are so expensive that they make 10 series seem affordable.

Finished testing the psu I got. Rosewill Quark 750watt Platinum. Aside from a fried pcie cable and corresponding modualer plugin, it works fine. Just have to buy a couple pcie cables for it and it can go in a machine.

Not really modern but bleeding edge for me anyway 🤣 , but yesterday I got an MSI 750Ti/2GB for cheap from a friend and 2x8GB HyperX Fury (2x8GB) DDR3/1600 for my i5-4440, to replace the old and trustworthy Point of View 8800GT/512MB modded with Arctic L2 fan and ram heatsinks, and some kingston value 4x2GB@1333... Not really so much of a gamer to get a 2018 card, but in the long-overdue process of putting this box to use/making it daily driver; it's my most recent system after all 🤣 Next up is an SSD to move the OS and some apps, a bigger HDD for storage (now it's got a slowish 500GB WD) and maybe a better monitor.

My dad has upgraded his gaming computer (changed his motherboard to go from an i5-4590 to an i5-8600K and changed the graphics card from a GTX 970 to a GTX 1070), so he gave his old parts to me, here's what he had for me:

- MSI Z97I AC Mini-ITX motherboard
- Intel Core i5 4590 CPU (installed in the motherboard)
- 2x8GB Crucial Ballistix DDR3 RAM (installed in the motherboard)
- ASUS nVidia Geforce GTX 970 (Mini) PCI-e x16 graphics card

(that black thing on the connector of the graphics card is a protective cover from his new card)

I was planning on re-purposing my Skylake build into a video editing rig, so the GTX 970 might be used in that. The motherboard will likely be used for a sleeper Mini-ITX build at some point.

I bought a new Sound Blaster! USB! External!

https://us.creative.com/p/sound-cards/sound-blaster-play-3

I have a cheap small form factor Windows 10 PC in the kitchen for web / music and the audio output was pretty shite - muddy, humming when the PC went to sleep. So I snuck this little bad boy into the mix and it's fantastic - true plug and play, sounds great, and has a really nice software package available for it.

Recommended.

I bought new-old Sound Blaster too 😀 Internal, for PCIe (since on my motherboard I no longer have PCI slots).

I found out, that X-Fi is last class of sound cards from SB, to which I can upload soundfonts, so I offered low ball offer to this X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty, and seller surprisingly accepted it 🤣

I want an ISA SSD complete with onboard floppy and CD emulation, also would like a full dos compatible pci-e audio card that has all the cool features. Full 9x drivers for modern hardware for obvious reasons.

While we're pipe-dreaming, I want a netbook the size of an Asus eeePC with AWE64 & GUS PnP-compatible sound chips on-board, 64MB of shared wavetable RAM, standard MIDI I/O ports, and individual audio outputs for each hardware sound channel in a docking tray that sits underneath.

NVIDIA Quadro 4000 2GB get! It runs quite warm though, so I might redo the paste.

That card is known to run hot regardless because of the single slot cooler and the core config holds it back in gaming though using Quadro cards feel more stable than pubbie GTX cards while playing.

Bid on (and won) a Gakken SX-150 Mk.II analogue synth. It's basically just a very simple modern-made analogue synth (no, it won't do GM*) with a ribbon controller.

* If you want a cheap module that will do GM, get the Gakken Pocket Miku (a USB sample-based voice synth with ribbon controller that also happens to contain a XG/GM sound module in the same chip).
